He is the son of the late Easley Winston and the late Maggie (Scallions) Mullins Sr. After his parents death Mr. Mullins was raised from a very young age by his oldest sister, Lottie Sue Beaird and her husband JB. Mr. Mullins proudly served his country in the Army. He was a retired Plant Manager of Anderson Chemical Company in Memphis for 48 years. Mr. Mullins is survived by one daughter: Judy Thomasan of Southaven, MS; two sons: Harvey Mullins of Brighton, TN; Gary Mullins of Booneville, MS; a niece, Sharlene Manning and a nephew, Terry Beaird, both of Halls TN. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara G. Mullins; two sisters, Lottie Sue Beaird, Katie Mae Rambo; two brothers, Austin Mullins, Wallace Mullins and a niece, Demetra Klyce. Mr. Mullins also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Glada Vaughn of Chicago, IL. Dorothy (Dot) Spiller left her earthly home on Wednesday, August 18 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dot was married to the love of her life, Marcus, for 63 years. They have been sweethearts since the age of 12. If you knew Dot for very long, she would tell you about her heavenly home. Her life exemplified Christ to her family, her friends, and to those around her. Her passion in this life was sharing the love of Jesus and caring for her family. For many years she worked in the cotton industry and was a friend to all those who came in contact with her in that field. She will be so greatly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and many nieces and nephews. She was the light and heart of her family. Dot is survived by her husband, Marcus Spiller, her daughter Marsha (Randy) McKay, and son Mark (Shirley) Spiller both of Bartlett. She also leaves grandchildren Will (Jennie) McKay of Conway, AR, Jon McKay of Bartlett, Andrew (Kendall) McKay of Hernando, MS, Sarah Spiller of Dyer and Elizabeth (Aleks) Acred of Bartlett. She also leaves 2 brothers Donald (Patty) Hogue and Paul (Rose) Hogue 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. The son of the late Dale Francis Glover and Mary Elizabeth Beaird Glover, he was a 1961 graduate of Union University where he met his future wife, the late Pauline "Polly" Stone Glover. August 13 th will mark their 60 th wedding anniversary, the first they have celebrated together in 21 years. While at Union he was a cheerleader, member of Alpha Tau Omega and later followed in his father and grandfather's footsteps as a member of the Union Board of Trustees serving for several terms before being name a trustee emeritus. Polk has been inducted into Union's 21st Century Society and received the Distinguished Service Award and Union Family Legacy Award.

Mr. Fowlkes was a retired Insurance Adjuster and Sales and a life-long member of Dyersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He lived a long and wonderful life with family who loved him and good friends who shared many happy times. He loved the Lord, his church and his family. All who knew him knew of his love for fishing. Hardly a day passed that he wasnt out on the lake enjoying the beauty of the day and his quest for a fish. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Mr. Samuel "Sammy" Cannon, age 67, of Gates passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at his home in Gates. Mr. Sammy was born September 12, 1953. He is the son of the late Herman Lynn and the late Laura Nell (Flowers) Cannon. Mr. Sammy was a truck driver and served in the National Guard. Mr. Sammy is survived by his wife: Teresa (Hughes) Cannon three sons: Dewayne Cannon of Gates, TN, Tony Cannon of Ripley, TN and Lee Cannon of Clarksville, TN, a sister: Deborah Arnold of Henning, TN and three brothers: Larry Cannon of Ripley, TN, John Cannon of Henning, TN and Gary Cannon of Gates, TN. Mr. Sammy leaves behind five grandchildren and one on the way. Granddaughters; Olivia Woodall, Cecilia Cannon, and Makayla Hardee; grandsons; Sam Cannon and Logan Cannon. Mr. Sammy was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Bomar. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 7 at Eureka United Methodist Church, Tibbs Forked Deer Rd, Gates, TN with Bro. Ina Ashley

Ina Claire Ashley, age 89 of Nashville, Tennessee, formerly of Dyersburg, passed away on August 3, 2021, following a brief illness. Ina was born in Covington, Tennessee on February 7, 1932 to Thomas and Earline (Temple) Klutts. A graduate of Byars-Hall High School, Ina excelled on the basketball court where she earned the nickname “the Blonde Terror”. She was twice named Miss Tipton County. Following graduation, she began modeling for Goldsmiths Department Store in Memphis. In 1955, shortly after the death of her first husband, Clarance T. Poindexter, Jr., Ina traveled from Tennessee to Hollywood, California to visit an aunt. Ultimately she moved to the city after several promising auditions. In 1956, Ina was named one of the Wampus Baby Stars. During her time in Hollywood, she performed at the Pasadena Playhouse alongside other actors, including a young Clint Eastwood. She had a role in the 1956 blockbuster “GIANT”. A year earlier she and her friends Debbie Reynolds and Ruta Lee helped found The Thalians, a Hollywood-based civic organization devoted to promoting mental health. On the small screen, Ina was featured in the popular television show “The Millionaire” and following her return to Memphis, she hosted the locally produced “Dance Party”, along with Wink Martindale. During her time on “Dance Party”, she interviewed several well-known singers, including Johnny Cash.
