Christine Braden Meeks passed from this life on Monday August 10, 2015 at 1:05 pm. at the age o f 96 yrs., 8 months and 1 day. Born on December 9, 1918 in Crockett Co., TN. to Mary Lucy and James Preston Braden. She attended the Antioch Church of Christ faithfully for many,many years. She was an avid gardener, growing and selling, nationwide, over 1600 varieties of Iris and Daylillies. The mention of her name to many people brings back memories of rows and rows of beautiful Irises. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Meeks and her only child, Danny Meeks in 1978. She was also preceded in death by a sister; Crystal Nichols and two brothers: Guy Braden and James Braden. She is survived by three grandchildren: Jimmy (Mary Nola) Meeks of Halls, TN, David (Melissa) Meeks of Halls, TN and John Meeks of Halls, TN. Mrs. Christine also leaves four great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren. She also leaves her beloved daughter in law, friend, and caregiver, Linda Mitchell. Mr. Whittle retired in 2007 as front end alignment specialist at Tucker Tire and Oil Company. He began his employment there in 1957. He was an avid golfer and loved his beloved baseball games. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Seller's Sunday School class and the Men's Choir. He was a charter member of Dyersburg Breakfast Rotary Club where he served as Treasurer and was named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a red coat volunteer at the hospital, board member of Dyer County Literacy Program, a past-president of the Dyer County Fair Association, a past president of the UT Alumni Association and an Air Force veteran. John Haakon Hoff, 81, of Dyersburg, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at The Highlands of Dyersburg. Born May 26, 1934 to Einar Benjamin and Elizabeth Dubose Hoff, he was retired as Dyer County Chancery Clerk and Master (appointed in 1994 by Judge Steve Stafford) after he had been in the insurance business for 37 years. Mr. Hoff was past president and board member of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce. He was the Chamber's Man of the Year in 1992. He was also former president and former chairman of the board of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission, past president and board member of the Dyersburg Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, past president of the Dyer County Fair Association and served as a Dyersburg alderman for 12 years. He was voted Outstanding Young Man of at the Year in 1969. John had many beloved friends. Services for Mr. Hoff will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church conducted by Reverend Wally Bumpas. Visitation will begin at 12 noon until service time at the church. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Jane Parker Hoff; his daughters, Betsy Hoff Shelton, Kitty Reaves Harris, Jennifer Hoff Reavis; and his son Robert Reaves; his brother, Einar B. She is survived by one daughter: Sammie Kyle of Millington, TN and two sons: Philip Kyle of Munford, TN, Robert Talley Kyle Jr of Cordova, TN; Sister of one sister: Olga Dew of Halls, TN; Predeceased by her brother, Slayton Walpole, sister, Mary Willie Hughes. He was a retired UPS Driver, where he worked for 33 years and was an auto transporter for Rick Hill Nissan. Allen was a member of the Forked Deer Antique Car Club, an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed guitar and blue grass music. He enjoyed sailing in the gulf and was a long time accomplished musician.

He was a truck driver for Crook Planting Company and attended Three Oaks Baptist Church. He was a 1971 graduate of Dyersburg High School. James received numerous awards from his career with Combined Insurance Company and served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was a past member of the Dyer County Fair Board and past president and founding member of Island 18 Hunting Club.
