Our Mission

Dyer County News is an independent, reader-supported news organization dedicated to local accountability journalism in Northwest Tennessee. We investigate how county and city government, public officials, and institutions serve—or fail to serve—residents of Dyer County, Lake County, and the surrounding Midsouth region including Northeast Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, the Missouri Bootheel, and Western Kentucky.

We believe communities thrive when residents have timely access to factual information about local governance, campaign finance, public spending, and the decisions that affect their daily lives. Our coverage prioritizes public records, official documents, and original reporting that holds power accountable.

How We Report

Every claim we publish is verified against primary sources—disclosure filings, court documents, government audits, and public datasets. We publish those documents alongside our reporting so readers can examine the evidence themselves. We work from the public record and do not rely on anonymous allegations without corroboration.

About Our Team

We are a small team of journalists working on a volunteer basis alongside day jobs. Given the small-town nature of our coverage area and the sensitivity of some subjects we investigate, we maintain semi-anonymous bylines while holding ourselves to strict editorial standards. Our reporting is held to the same rigor as any news organization: fact-checked, sourced, and fair.
