DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — More than 2,500 Dyer County voters have cast ballots during early voting, the Dyer County Election Commission said Wednesday night. The count reached 2,571 ballots through Wednesday, including 2,490 in-person votes and 81 absentee ballots.
On Wednesday, 322 people voted in person and eight returned absentee ballots, the commission said. Daily turnout peaked Friday, Oct. 16, when 454 people cast ballots in person.
Election officials asked if turnout could reach 3,000 total ballots on Thursday, the commission said. "Is 3000 total for tomorrow too much to ask for???"
Turnout also reached 413 on Oct. 14, 379 on Oct. 15, 123 on Saturday, 412 on Monday, and 395 on Tuesday, the commission said. Another 64 absentee ballots arrived before in-person voting began.
Early voting runs through Thursday, Oct. 29, ahead of the Nov. 3 election, the commission said.
