DYERSBURG, Tenn. — Dyersburg police are accepting applications for their annual Shop with a Hero program, the department said. The holiday program was formerly known as Shop with a Cop. It is open to Dyersburg residents ages 4 to 17.
Applications and nomination forms are available at the police department and all Dyersburg City Schools, police said. Completed applications must be returned to the police department by 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1.
This year, heroes will include police officers and their families, administrative office staff, and dispatchers, police said. They will have the chance to shop and spend time with the children.
"Shop with a Hero helps children in our community experience the joy of Christmas while building positive connections with those who serve them," the department said. "We are looking forward to another special Christmas season filled with smiles, memories, and community!"
Police also described the program as "bringing our community together, one child at a time."
