DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — The U.S. Marshals Service, assisted by the Dyer County Sheriff's Office, arrested two fugitives hiding in Dyer County, the sheriff's office said in a release dated Oct. 5.
According to the sheriff's office, the first person arrested was a fugitive from justice on felony charges out of Missouri. The release did not specify those charges.
The second person was a fugitive from justice charged with aggravated rape, rape of a child and incest, the sheriff's office said.
The release did not name either person or say where in the county the arrests took place.
Tyreece Miller, U.S. marshal for the Western District of Tennessee, said in the release: "The Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force takes the apprehension of fugitives very seriously and we appreciate the assistance from our local partner agencies. Dyer Countians should rest easier tonight knowing two more fugitives are off the streets."
"We will continue to work with our federal, state, and local partners to remove dangerous criminals from our county," Sheriff Montgomery said in the release.
The sheriff's office said each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and that the cases will be prosecuted in their respective jurisdictions.
