DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — An overnight sweep in Dyersburg and nearby areas led to 12 arrests, the sheriff's office said. The sweep was called Operation Monster Mash. It ran from the evening of Oct. 30 into the early morning of Oct. 31. Deputies made traffic stops and served warrants across the area. Dyersburg police, the West Tennessee Drug Task Force and the Tennessee Highway Patrol helped with the operation.
Investigator Heather Defoe arrested the operation's main target, the sheriff's office said. The suspect was charged with violation of sex offender registry after absconding since 2019.
Drug Task Force Agent Justin Jones made a traffic stop that led to a DUI arrest, the sheriff's office said. Jones suspected the man was hiding something on him. At the Law Enforcement Center, the suspect was searched with a body scanner. That led to charges of possession of Schedule II substance to include felony amounts of fentanyl and cocaine. Another suspect was brought to the center on a Dyersburg Police Department warrant. Once inside the jail, that suspect was charged with introduction.
“This is what the citizens of Dyer County can expect in the future - continued teamwork and coordination with all law enforcement agencies,” Sheriff Montgomery said. “A special thank you to the DTF, DPD, and THP for their involvement with this operation.”
Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
