DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — The Dyer County Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in connection with the 2025 murder of Deandre Pickering, the agency announced in an Oct. 9 release.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect was wanted for second-degree murder. The West Tennessee Violent Crimes and Drug Task Force, the Dyersburg Police Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol assisted the sheriff's office with locating and apprehending the suspect, the release said.

The release, titled "Cold Case Murder Arrest," did not identify the suspect by name or state where the arrest took place.

"Great teamwork by all agencies involved, led by Capt. Caldwell," Sheriff Montgomery said in the release. "If you provide fentanyl or any other dangerous drugs to our citizens or inmates, you will be found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, according to the sheriff's office.
