DYER COUNTY, Tenn. — The Dyer County Sheriff's Office has charged two people in connection with the vandalism of construction equipment beneath the Mississippi River Bridge, the sheriff's office said in a release Oct. 8. The vandalism was reported Sept. 14, according to the sheriff's office.

One adult male is charged with vandalism over $10,000, and one juvenile male is charged with vandalism over $1,000, the sheriff's office said. The release did not name either person. It put the total damage at more than $26,000, and its headline described both as in custody.

The sheriff's office credited Deputy Wyatt Farrow and Investigator Heather Defoe with the case.

"This is a great example of teamwork between our Patrol and Criminal Investigation Divisions," Capt. Caldwell said in the release. "I would like to commend Deputy Wyatt Farrow and Investigator Heather Defoe for working together to solve this case so quickly."

"Make no mistake, all forms of criminal activity will not be tolerated," Sheriff Montgomery said in the release.

District Attorney General Danny Goodman will prosecute the cases, according to the sheriff's office. Each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
