He was a Korean War Army Veteran decorated with the Korean Service Medal, Silver Star for gallantry, United Nation Service Medal and a Purple Heart. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He owned and operated Holden's Grocery for many years.

He was a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was also retired security for Murray Guard, Dyersburg Regional Medical Center, Heckethorn Manufacturing and Tyson Foods. Mr. Cutcher was a member of Finley Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mr. Cutcher will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Charlie Halliburton and Reverend Calvin Smith.
