She loved time spent with her family and her Christian faith was an important part of her life.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Larry Hearod, her son Larry Timothy Hearod, Sr., her brothers; Thomas Manns, Sr. Steve and David Manns, her sister; Alice Pate and was greatly loved as "Nanny" by her grandchildren; Sara Hearod, Emily Hearod and Larry Timothy Hearod, Jr. and her six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Martha Allen and Susan Spencer.

Janie earned her bachelor’s degree from Memphis State University and retired as a medical technologist with West Tennessee Healthcare. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a loyal and devoted friend, an animal lover, and an avid gardener. She also enjoyed sharing her thoughts and creativity through her blog, “Pecan Lane.” Janie was a lifelong member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church.

Jerry Lock, 87, formerly of Millsfield, died peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, at his residence in Elmwood, TN, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 2, 1938, to L C and Ophelia Seaton Lock, who preceded him in death. Jerry was a member and honorary deacon of Christ Church Baptist Fellowship in Millsfield, TN and attended Gordonsville Christian Fellowship in Gordonsville, TN.

After graduation from Dyersburg High School in 1956, he attended Murray State University and was soon recruited as a pitcher into minor league baseball. In four years, he played five seasons in the minors and rose from D-ball to AA performing mainly as a relief pitcher best known for his slider pitch. Due to an arm injury in 1961, his major league career ended before his rookie debut opportunity with the St. Louis Cardinals organization but the disciplines he acquired through baseball forever influenced his strategic decision-making skill in life.

Throughout her life, Reba was a dedicated worker. In their early years, she and her husband traveled far and wide as migrant farm laborers, harvesting fruits, vegetables and other produce. She truly loved those years, seeing new places, meeting new people and enjoying life simpler pleasures. Later they settled in Dyersburg, where the worked at Sylvania Manufacturing, Kroger and Ryan's Steakhouse. She always was a devoted homemaker. Growing, cooking, canning and sharing the fruit of her labor with family and friends always brought her joy. She was very active in the ministries of the Junction Church of God where she taught Sunday School for a time. Family activities meant much to her, whether it was a trip to the mountains every year or going to her grandchildren's ballgames or other events.

Reba is survived by her daughter, Nina Robertson; and was greatly loved as "Nanny" by her grandchildren; Shannon Hill, Phillip Crawford, Heather Rodgers, Jennifer Rose, Loretta Ubal, Josh Robertson; her 16 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

His passion for mathematics was well-known among his friends and family. Marshall will be remembered for his family-oriented nature and his contributions to both his community and his family.

Doug was born in Dyersburg, TN on January 16, 1942 to the late, Douglas Loyd Fowler, Sr. and Maudema Fowler. Doug was straight forward and firm in his beliefs and wants. He always enjoyed laughing and share a good joke with family and friends. He was married to Linda Joan Fowler for 57 years. They lived together in Dripping Springs Texas for over 30 years before her passing. He traveled the world while serving our nation's military honorably in the Air Force for 22 years. Afterwards they traveled the country from coast to coast as a trucking team. Then with their grandchildren and children they would travel in an RV. He enjoyed traveling, eating pie, fishing, and above all spending time with his family.

Stan was a faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and proudly served as the local Chaplain for the Dyer County Rescue Squad. Known to many as “Stan the Man from Dyersburgland”, he brought energy and enthusiasm as Master of Ceremonies at numerous racetracks, including Dyersburg, Jackson, Camden, Atwood and Milan. Stan had a special love for vehicles, quick wit and a deep appreciation for life. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome.

Stan is survived by his sons, Miles Holland, Bronson Watson, both of Dyersburg; his sister, Brenda Lord and husband, Mike, of Nashville; and three nephews, Michael Lord and wife Melissa, Tom Lord and wife Stephanie and Bob Tweedy and wife Beth.

Mrs. Marilyn Holmes, of Dyersburg, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Ascension - Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was born September 20, 1943, in Trenton, TN to the late Everard and Emily Williams. Throughout her life, she worked in various capacities including secretary for various medical businesses, preschool teacher, editor and proofreader. Her attention to detail and love of history were always key to her work. She had a passion for genealogy and research; writing several books on Dement/Holmes families. She supported the work of the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter and the Dyer County Veterans' Assistance office as well as being an active member of the Dyer County Historical Society. For the last thirteen years, she was a volunteer as a Certified Archivist, working in the Archive's office on county legal records. She and her husband were active members of First Baptist Church in Halls, TN where she was a dedicated teacher for the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband, Vernon Lee Holmes, whom she married November 28, 1963. She also is survived by a son, Thomas Lee Holmes and wife, Chantelle, and a daughter, LeAnn Kunce and husband, Jim and a sister, Nancy Williams Wallace. She was loved as "Grandma" by her grandchildren, Ashley Wheeler and husband, Jon and Kimberly, Paige, Andrew and Ryan Gildersleeve and Isabella and Brandon Holmes. She has her first great-grandson, Elliott James Wheeler, son of Ashley and Jon Wheeler. She is preceded in death by her parents, Everard Holmes Williams and Emily Tyree Williams.

He spent every winter at his duck cabin in Arkansas, guiding hunters from all over the country. He enjoyed every sunset after a long day of hunting to review his accomplishments and achievements.

He also served his country in the United States National Guard for six years. His commitment to his community was evident through his volunteer work as a fireman in both Ridgely and Tiptonville, and his service on various county boards, including his role as Road Commissioner. He was also the coordinator for the music entertainment at the Annual Reelfoot Arts and Crafts.
