She was born in Memphis, TN on June 27, 1969 to Diane and James Norman Rhodes. She was raised in Tiptonville, TN near Reelfoot Lake. Ashleigh went to the University of Tennessee for three years before getting married and having her three children. She had a passion for early childhood education and worked as a preschool teacher and nanny. Ashleigh cared deeply for her friends and family. She was the type of person to make friends everywhere she went, often making friends in line at the grocery store. She greeted everyone with a smile and a big hug. She was funny, beautiful, fun, and had a huge heart. She was a great cook and always made enough to feed a crowd. Her sense of humor and love for others will be greatly missed.

Jack was born on December 26, 1938, in Ridgely, TN, to the late William Roley Helton and the late Elsie Mae Lankford Helton. He has served in the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was chief deputy of the Dyer County Sheriff's Office and served as a counselor at the West Tennessee High Correctional Facility. Jack was a baseball coach for the Dixie Youth League and the travel ball. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg and was a member of the Dyer County Coon Club. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Jonathan Steel Anderson, age 67 of Hernando, MS formerly of Dyersburg, TN passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Desoto.

Jon was born in Dyersburg, TN on April 6, 1955 to the late Wilburn and Janet Flatt Anderson. He was a 1973 graduate of Dyersburg High School. Jon left Dyersburg in 1975 to pursue a music career in Memphis. After he got settled in Memphis, he was awarded a position at Liberty Land theme park in 1977. In 1978, he formed and led a very popular band called "Rebel Yell". This band traveled the world touring in Europe, Asia, Pacific, and Mediterranean where he performed for USO shows.

Bobby Wayne Trosper, 78, of Ripley, TN, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital.

Bobby was born in the Edith Community, to the late, Ocie and Era Trosper, on the family farm in Ripley, TN. He was a 1962 graduate of Halls High School. Bobby worked in construction that traveled all over the United States. He was in the United States Army and was a Combat Vietnam Veteran. He received the Army Commendation Medal with V device for heroism in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Bobby was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish, turkey and deer hunt. He loved his family and enjoyed having them over anytime, especially, for a fish fry. Bobby was a member of the Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Halls. He was a faithful member of his church and loved his church family.

Larry was born on September 29, 1942, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late, Thomas and Beauton McGuire. He was a former member of the following: Dyer County Farm Bureau Board, Dyer County FSA County Committee and the Tennessee National Guard Reserves. As an FFA Alumni member himself, he was always supportive of his children and grandchildren in their endeavors. His favorite things were country dancing, squirrel and coon hunting and squatting while talking with friends. Larry lived his life to the fullest and in his own unique way.

Dr. Bill Oakley, former pastor of Enon Baptist Church, will be officiating the service on Thursday, August 18, 2022. Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church in Halls and will be followed by the service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery following the service. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Halls Funeral Home. June Reece was born in Chick on June 1, 1936 to her parents James Ray and Carrie Bell Nannie. June was married to John Hunter Reece Jr. on Jan. 4, 1951, and they spent 69 years building a beautiful life together. The couple lived and worked in both Halls, Chicago, and Ripley. Prior to her retirement in 2004 she worked as an insurance agent for S.N. Anthony's Insurance Agency. June was a member of Enon Baptist Church for over 50 years. June (Nana) was known for her love for her family and treasured being able to gather them around her table for a meal. June could almost always be found stirring around in her kitchen cooking for loved ones and friends. Outside of time spent at work, church and with family June also enjoyed reading, shopping, and eating out. June Reece is survived by her caring daughter and son in-law Tania Reece and Barry Farley, grandchildren Katie Reece Davis, Hunter and his wife Allison Farley, Molly Claire Farley, and her great-grandchildren Addilyn and Everly Davis, as well as, caretaker and friend, Ruth Ann Jones. Charlie Lee Endmon, 73, of Brownsville, TN, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at the State Veterans Home in Humboldt.

Charlie was born in Oxford, MS on June 12, 1949. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, and acquired a Purple Heart Medal in the Vietnam War during his service to our country. Charlie endured multiple war injuries and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He pursued law at Martin University and afterwards drove locally and in the West Tennessee area. His last occupation was landscaping, which he really enjoyed. Charlie was a 1967 graduate of Dyersburg High School. His hobbies included music, comedy and television.

Eddie was born October 9, 1936. He attended Castle Heights Military Academy, where he was a MidSouth Champion wrestler and Company Commander his senior year. He later attended the University of Arizona and the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He served with and was granted an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force Reserve. Eddie was the previous owner of Eddie Davis LawnCare, a partner in the RoEllen Gin Co., Rio Vista Gin Co. in Texas, Davis Farms, and Davis Sausage Company. Eddie was also a skilled horseman and an active member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association(TWHBEA).

Harriet was born on January 21, 1939 in St. Louis, Michigan to the late Ivan and Frances Damon Spicer. Her husband of 40 years, Bert J. Smith, preceded her in death, July 6, 1997. In addition to being a loving mother of 6 children, Harriet took care of many other young children in her home for many years. She spent almost 40 years working in the family business of Dyersburg Tax Services as the Office Manager working alongside her husband and children. She was a long-time member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, played the piano, and served in many other roles. Currently, she was attending Stanton Christian Church in Stanton, Kentucky. She was very committed to serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and living out his command to love others through the giving of her time, talent and treasure. Traveling, fresh fruit, ice cream, animals, jewelry and visits with family and friends were among her favorite joys in life.

Mike was a great baseball player getting the chance to pitch in the Connie Mack All Stars in 1967. Mike had a quick humor and was always there to help anyone he could. He enjoyed fishing, being outside, spending time with family and quoting his favorite bible verses. His family finds comfort in knowing that his Dad and Mom were there to greet him with open arms.

Barry was born on June 23, 1945, in Dyersburg, TN, to the late, Leroy and Louise Climber Adams. He was an assistant manager for Hampton Inn in Dyersburg. For many years, Barry worked in management at the Holiday Inn until the Hampton Inn came to Dyersburg. He will be long remembered as helping his family as he grew up truck farming with his parents in Fowlkes, TN.

Barbara Frances Chandler, 81, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Barbara was born on October 6, 1940 in Dyer County, TN, to the late Mary Frances Coburn and James Garrett Coburn. She attended Friendship High School and completed courses at the Dyersburg Community College. She also took further extended educational courses at University of Tennessee at Martin, TN. Barbara married Roy Chandler on April 6, 1957 and they were married for 65 years. Most of her adult life was spent with her husband in Dyersburg, TN. Barbara was schooled in Cosmetology and owned her own salon. She later on established her own Ladies and Junior Apparel Store, all in Dyersburg. In later years, she moved with her husband to Missouri where she established two gift shops. She eventually sold these stores and took a management position working for the Osmond Brothers Theater Gift Shop. Barbara retired at the age of 59 and moved with her husband to Paris, TN. While spending lots of time her six grandchildren, she was able to author a book that was printed in 2007 "My grandmother and Me". This was a book of family history and complimented by great country food recipes.

Next to the Lord she was devoted to all her family. She was a dedicated and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary spent her life in the service and sacrifice to others. Mary not only spent her life caring for her family but also dedicated her life to nursing. She took great pride in helping others and was a source of great comfort and compassion to those who met her. She was a strong woman both in character and her faith. She was known for her strong work ethic, patience, and self-sacrificing personality.

Mattie Clyde Lloyd (Loyd) Chandler, 98 and a half, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Dyersburg Manor (AHC).

Mattie was born on December 20, 1923, to the late Clyde & the late Lula Belle Williams Loyd. Her husband of 58 years, Phil Chandler, preceded her in death on September 11, 2005. She was a member of Eastern Star and former Mother Advisor of Rainbow Girls. She was a Cradle roll superintendent at First Assembly of God, where she was also a Leader of Christ Ambassadors and elected Mother of the Year in 1972. Mattie was the Secretary of Women's Missionary Group, where she was a member for 72 years. She worked at F.W. Woolworth and Dyersburg Army Air Base (DAAB) in Halls, TN. She worked at Milan, TN Arsenal Plant during World War II in 1943. She was an active member of Woodmen of World, a 50 year member, and received "The Good Neighbor" Award in 2005. She also worked at Chandler Home Furnishings. She was a charter member of Dyersburg Crochet Guild. She was a civic activist who successfully worked to protect Dyersburg and Dyer County when the PCB Chemical plant was trying to come to town. She was Mother to many, Nana and GiGi, the unofficial title as Queen of Party Line, decoupager, crocheter, fudge maker extraordinaire, prayer warrior, and strong woman of God.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Dannie was much loved by the members of his church and community. Celebration of Life services will be Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ridgely Chapel of Curry Funeral Home. Dannie graduated from Trevecca University. He spent his professional career as a Physicians Assistant in North Carolina. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members and friends who he considered family. James joined the Military while he was in High School and after completion of his term with the Army he received his High school Diploma he went on to attend and graduate from Austin Peay University in Clarksville, TN where he received a BA in Accounting. He was employed by Maramont Corporation for several years. Jim later received his Certified Public Accountant Designation and worked as Chief Financial Officer for Grand Rapids Metalcraft in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After returning to Memphis he served as as Chief Financial Officer for J-Line Pump in Collierville, TN until his retirement in 2015. James is survived by his wife of 40 years Barbara Watts Rea of Eads, TN, two stepsons Mike Robison (Shirley) of Gates, TN, a granddaughter, Megan Emerson and two great grandchildren, Avery and John Luke Emerson and Ken Robison (Nedra Robison) of Eads, TN and 3 grandsons Tyler Robison, Matthew Robison, and Noah Robison. James also leaves several nieces and nephews. A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
