During his time at LCHS, he made many lasting contributions to the school and left a lasting impact on his students and colleagues. For 22 years, he maintained two careers simultaneously. Mr. Pierce's heart of service continued throughout his life as he held other positions such as Alderman for the City of Ridgely, Lake County Commissioner, and volunteer firefighter for the City of Ridgely. Photo of David Forrest Mooring

David Forrest Mooring

November 27, 1952 – January 04, 2026

David F. Mooring departed his earthly body on 1/4/26. He started his journey in 1952 when James C. and Bettye Jane Mooring welcomed him on Nov 27th. At 19, he married Dorothy Rogers, the love of his life. They eventually settled in Tiptonville, TN and raised two children. His death marks the end of an era for his friends and family, though we are happy he is no longer in pain and excited for his next adventure. The list of people he leaves behind is far too long, as is the list of those that preceded him in death.

Our father always left an impression on people- both good and bad- but you did remember him. Despite his ornery nature, his heart will be his lasting legacy. Sure, some will say it was his ability to clear a dance floor, his talent in making you laugh until your sides hurt, his creative cussing, his impromptu eagle tours, his cooking skills, his deep love of music, or his beautiful head of hair-all very impressive. However, his heart was by far the most amazing aspect of his life. When he loved, he loved hard. Friends and family were the most important things in his life, and there was no difference between the two. If you were lucky enough to be loved by him, he made sure you knew it. Even in the rockiest parts of our relationship, there was never any doubt of his love for us. Never.
