He is the son of the late James Robert and the late Vera Francis (Moore) Thurmond. He was a retired employee of American Greetings. He is survived by two sons: Robert Gaston Thurmond of Covington, TN and Chris Thurmond of Murfreesboro, TN. Brother of four sisters: Carolyn Hutcherson, Geneva Robbins, Peggy Jones all of Ripley, TN and Letha Johnson of Maury City, TN. He also leaves two granddaughters. Jim was preceded in death by his Brother, Buddy Thurmond. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23 at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN with Bro. He was owner of Newmans Excavating. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Brother Mac Daniels with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 17th from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He is survived by Jeri Newman and four daughters, Cindy Newman Calhoun (Andy) of Lakeland, Patty Newman Rogers (Josh) of Dyersburg, Paula Newman Cremeans (Matthew) of North Carolina; Sara Newman Hardee (Jeremy) of Ripley; ten grandchildren, Garrett, Gunnar and Samuel Grant Rogers, Hadley and Rylee Hardee, Makinley and Sydney McCutchen, Luke and Quinn Cremeans and Emma Calhoun. She is the daughter of the late Louis and the late Maurine Falkner. She was a retired employee of Tupperware Manufacturing and a homemaker. She is survived by one daughter: Karen Duvall of Ripley, TN and two sons: Donnie Koonce of Murfreesboro, TN and Roger Duvall of Ripley, TN. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great grandchild. Ruby was a Gold Star Mother, as she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Koonce (Vietnam War), and son, Terry Koonce. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Patricia Dudley Phillips and the son of the late James and Hazel Hilliard Phillips. Mr. Phillips retired from Forcum Lannom in 1980 where he worked for 12 years. Once his retirement he decided to get into the law enforcement. He began this career in 1980 and worked for the Tennessee Highway Patrol as a Sergeant until his retirement in 2008. Born the only child of Ralph A. and Eva (Zumwalt) Bloomquist, December 24, 1937 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka, IL. He graduated from Donovan Grade School and Donovan High School, Donovan, IL in 1955. Served in the US Navy from October 1955 till September 1958. Worked at Caterpillar, East Peoria, IL, retiring from there in March 1992 with over 31 years of service. While at Caterpillar, he graduated from the Machine Shop Trainee Apprentice Course in January 1966. He owned and operated PMOS, Inc from 1992 till end of 2005. While operating PMOS, he worked on machines at several Mid-South Manufacturing Plants. He was a member of the Dyersburg Church of God.

He was born on January 22, 1947, in Osceola, AR, to the late Willie and Leona Kendazora Deason. Jackie was a jailer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office and also worked at Colonial Rubber for 46 1/2 years. He was a member of the Tiptonville Fire Department, where he was a captain and the safety instructor and was a member of the Rescue Squad. Jackie was an EMT for the Lake County Ambulance Service at its inception and as a young man he was a farmer. He received an award from the American Red Cross for his numerous blood donations. Jackie was a member of the Tiptonville First Pentecostal Church and a member of the Tiptonville Masonic Lodge. Jackie was true to everyone he met and was the best Papa that a grandson could ever want.

She was a long-time member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and LOGOS Classes. Being a long-time member of CPW, she was chosen as a Patron Member in 2012. Marie was a member of Lydia Circle, serving at times in the roles of President and Secretary. She was also a member of the Lola Summers Sunday School Class serving in different capacities. As a charter member of the Keenagers, she served in several positions. She enjoyed playing in the Tuesday and Thursday Bridge Clubs. She enjoyed China Painting and was a member of the West TN Porcelain Guild serving as Secretary. Being a long-time member of the Women's Club, where she served as Secretary Treasurer, she also became a charter member of the former Junior Women's Club. Marie was also an avid seamstress. She sewed clothes for several children, even having some of them to model her clothes in the Dyer County Fair.

She was a graduate of Dyersburg High School Class of 1950. Earlier in her life, she was a manager of K.W. Rogers Depot Grocery. In 1974 until the present time she was an LPN, where she worked for 29 years for Dr. W.I. Thornton.

She was born October 14, 1938, in Blytheville, AR to Robin and Faye Pierce. Faye was the widow of Richard Wright of Tiptonville, TN, whom she married on September 1, 1957 at First Baptist Church in Dyersburg, TN. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Robin and Faye Pierce and one brother, Jerry Pierce of Dyersburg. Faye is survived by one daughter, Abbe Wright Anderson (Jeff); one son, Richard Pierce Wright, and one beloved granddaughter, Katy Abraham, all of Memphis. She is also survived by a brother, Dr. Robin Pierce (Frankie) of Athens, TN; one sister, Dr. Betty Pierce Hendrickson (Tim) of Tullahoma, TN; one sister-in-law, Mary Pierce of Houston, TX; and her best buddy, Eula Horrell (Rob) of Memphis, TN.

The children of Faye's siblings were especially close to Aunt Faye. Jeff Pierce, Lee Pierce, Michelle Chewning, Penny Kilpatrick and Scott Johnson, along with their spouses and children have lived under the loving umbrella of Aunt Faye's house with a multitude of visits, extended stays, and holidays over the years. Faye was a great cook and was happiest when family filled the house.
