Mr. Laddie Lee Owens, 86, of Dyersburg, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living. He was born October 25, 1938 in Wardell, Missouri to the late John R. and Carmen Owens. Laddie was a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Martin and Freed Hardeman University and proudly served in the United Staes Navy, later retiring after a long career as an adjustor for State Farm Insurance. He was a man of many interests but they all revolved around time with other people. He was a member of several breakfast or coffee groups at local diners and cafes. He worked in the community through the Newbern Lions Club. He enjoyed travelling, cars and boats, fishing, bowling, baseball and softball leagues, card games and was an avid University of Tennessee and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He is remembered by family and friends for his outgoing and charming personality, always ready to tell jokes and share riddles. In the fall, he loved to gather pecans, process them and then share them with anyone he knew. It was his way of "paying it forward." Laddie was a long-time member and deacon at West Dyersburg Church of Christ where he is remembered by many as "The Candy Man". He also has served as s Church of Christ minister and song leader over the years.

Laddie is survived by his children, Kevin Lee Owens, Kathy Tidwell and Christy Moore; his brothers, Marion and Jack Owens; a sister, Ruth Carol Ringold; and was loved as "Pop or PawPaw" by his grandchildren, Victoria Williamson, Landon and Logan Moore; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Lee Williamson, John Taylor Williamson, Nora Williamson and Everly Williamson.

Mrs. Peggy Ruth Presson, of Dyersburg, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at Okeena Health & Rehabilitation. She was born December 4, 1938 to the late Ruel Lee Fulcher and Virginia Baker Fulcher. She was a devoted homemaker and caretaker for members of her family. They fondly remember her baking and candy-making and her fudge was loved by everyone. She enjoyed any time spent with her family, especially dancing and camping in her younger years.

Peggy is survived by her son William Alan Clark, a brother, Jerry Wayne Fulcher, two sisters, Virginia "Ginny" Mae Thompson and Judy Moore, her grandchildren, Tony Alan Clark, Stacy Lynn Bosworth and Katherine Irene Clark and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Sharbeno, Emma Clark, Jacob Wright and Cannon Wright. She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Presson, her son Lester Wade Clark, her brothers, Will Dee Fulcher, James Fulcher, Robert Fulcher, Wendell Harold Fulcher, Danny Ray Fulcher and Fred Steven Fulcher, her sisters Eleanor Mae Glascow, Ann Marie Henderson, Jo Ann Collins, Georgia Lee Byrd and Lucille Matheny and a great-granddaughter Kaly Renee Wright.

He is deeply mourned by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Justice was the beloved son of the late Milton Duffie Jr. and the late Jennifer Terry. He is survived by his adopted mother, Terri Ann (Terry) Reynolds of Halls, TN; his three devoted sisters, Alexis Miller of Atoka, TN, Madison Tayon Terry of Halls, TN, and Presley Bonds of Dyersburg, TN; and his seven brothers: Jeremiah Terry of Gates, TN, Deshun Duffie of Gates, TN, Milton Taron Duffie of Gates, TN, Brian Jones of Chicago, IL, Keyonte Rogers of Chicago, IL, Martell Rogers of Chicago, IL, and Devonta Duffie of Chicago, IL. In addition to his family, Justice leaves behind numerous friends and extended family who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.

Carl was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg, where he served as a Trustee, Deacon-Emeritus, and Chairman of the Personnel Committee. He is remembered for his outgoing nature, never meeting a stranger and his love for any activity outdoors, especially duck hunting and neighborhood rides with his dogs.

Carl is survived by his wife, Carol House, his son Kurt House and wife, Erin, of Knoxville, TN, his son-in-law, Edward L. "Ted" Carreira, of Scituate, MA. and was greatly loved as "Pop" by his six grandchildren: Parker, Ethan, Asher and Dylan House and Colin and Trevor Carreira. Barbara Recker Johnson, age 86, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in Mobile, Alabama on Friday, August 15, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Vincent Henry and Clover Branham Recker of Portageville, Missouri, where she was born and raised. Barbara or Bobby, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, graduated from Portageville High School in 1956. Her professional career began at Delta Airlines in Memphis, Tennessee, where she worked from 1957 to 1960. On December 29, 1958, she married James Richard Johnson of Caruthersville, Missouri. Together, they celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2016.

In 1972, the couple relocated to Dyersburg, Tennessee, where they raised three sons. Barbara earned her associate degree from Dyersburg Community College in 1978. By 1980, she had obtained her Real Estate Broker's license and established BR Johnson Realty, becoming Dyersburg first female broker and the first woman to open a real estate office in the community. She played a key role in founding the Board of Realtors in Dyersburg and became the first woman to serve on the Dyer County Planning Commission in 1982.

Bobby was a self-employed farmer, pilot, and crop duster, known for his love of duck hunting, getting up early, and being outside. A member of the Spirit and Truth Church, he was affectionately known as a 'junk yard dog' by those who knew him well. Bobby had a deep love for people and dogs, and he cherished watching Alex play 'Cooter' basketball and listening to Conner tell whoppers, especially after Conner received the 'Whopper Award' in kindergarten.

Mildred graduated from Central High School in Clinton, KY in May of 1960. She was a dedicated student who worked very hard while in school. She was on the cheerleading team and participated in the majorette program. Mildred also attended Dyersburg State Community College and the University of Tennessee at Martin where she studied accounting. Mildred was a retired bookkeeper for Georgia Gulf and had also served as a secretary and substitute teacher at Lake County High School.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe; and by a Japanese exchange student that is like a daughter to her, Mami Dean; and granddaughter, Mei Dean of Tokyo, Japan. She is also survived by one brother, Kenneth Johnson (Nancy); and three sisters, Gracie Mooneyham (Chuck) of Water Valley, MS, Linda Stout of Dyersburg, TN and Ruth Sawyers (Lewis) of Hixson, TN. Carolyn is also survived by 9 nephews and nieces; and one deceased nephew. Carolyn had a close relationship with Joe's brother and sisters and considered them as her family also.

Mrs. Darre Jean Hilbun, formerly of Memphis and Dyersburg, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Jean was born December 5, 1934 to the late Darrell and Delores Hudson. She spent decades working in bookkeeping and finance, lastly for the Swafford Fleet Leasing Company, refusing to retire into her 80's. She was a long-time member of Berclair Church of Christ in Memphis and involved in many community-focused activities in Shelby County. She loved tending her flower beds, shopping trips and was a fan of the Memphis Tigers. She will be lovingly remembered for her independent spirit.

Jean is survived by her daughter Darre Fisher and husband Richard of Milan, TN and step-son Larry Hilbun. She was loved as "Nana" by many who knew her including her grandchildren Brittney Autry and husband Chad, Kaylee McInerney and husband Bobby and Nichelle McAlister and husband Dylan Lawrence and her ten great-grandchildren; Lilly and Adelade Autry, Ryder, Louella and Maggie McInerney, Levi and Aiden McAlister and Knox, Emmie Jean and Sunnie June Lawrence. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 25 years, George Hilbun, her parents Darrell and Delores Lucas Hudson, her son Jerry Thomas Wyatt, a sister Hellen Celene Lowery and a great-granddaughter Layla Rose Autry.

He grew up in Pewaukee Wisconsin spending summers riding his bike around the lake. He inherited a love of magic and clowning from his father and a dry sense of humor and sharp wit from his mother. Greg had a wonderful childhood. He spent a lot of time with his Grandpa Joe whom he shared a room with when he was young. He performed magic and clown shows with his dad, and when he was old enough, he loved driving his mom around to different fabric stores. He inherited his deep faith from his family. He graduated from Saint Francis de Sales Seminary with the intent of becoming a priest, but life had other plans for him.

He also was very knowledgable about computers and liked working on them for friends and neighbors.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Opal Richards, a daughter Mary Beth Roberson and husband, Jimmy, two brothers; Jimmy and Tommy Richards and was greatly loved as "Pop" by his grandson Brady Roberson. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Jerry and James Richards.
