Mr. Laddie Lee Owens, 86, of Dyersburg, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living. He was born October 25, 1938 in Wardell, Missouri to the late John R. and Carmen Owens. Laddie was a graduate of the University of Tennessee-Martin and Freed Hardeman University and proudly served in the United Staes Navy, later retiring after a long career as an adjustor for State Farm Insurance. He worked in the community through the Newbern Lions Club. He enjoyed travelling, cars and boats, fishing, bowling, baseball and softball leagues, card games and was an avid University of Tennessee and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He is remembered by family and friends for his outgoing and charming personality, always ready to tell jokes and share riddles. In the fall, he loved to gather pecans, process them and then share them with anyone he knew. It was his way of "paying it forward." Laddie was a long-time member and deacon at West Dyersburg Church of Christ where he is remembered by many as "The Candy Man". He also has served as s Church of Christ minister and song leader over the years.
Laddie is survived by his children, Kevin Lee Owens, Kathy Tidwell and Christy Moore; his brothers, Marion and Jack Owens; a sister, Ruth Carol Ringold; and was loved as "Pop or PawPaw" by his grandchildren, Victoria Williamson, Landon and Logan Moore; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Lee Williamson, John Taylor Williamson, Nora Williamson and Everly Williamson.
