Samuel Alvie Bradshaw, Jr., 86, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Dyersburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born January 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Samuel Alvie and Mary Julia Price Bradshaw. He was President of Bradshaw & Company Insurors and a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. A lover of the great outdoors, "Sambo" spent many happy hours flying airplanes and gliders, traveling and served as Past President of the Dyer County Fair Board. He was a Director of First Citizens National Bank. Mr. Sammy became a member of Dyersburg First United Methodist Church in May, 1941 at the age of 9. He was Past President of the Insurors of Tennessee where he was named Insuror of the Year and also named State National Director to the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America and Chairman of the Southern Agents Committee. Mr. Sammy served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

Dave Richard Bullington, 97, of Newbern, Tennessee (Millsfield community), made his final jump at The Bridge of Ridgely, Tennessee on Wednesday, August 23, 2017. He had a soft, peaceful landing into the arms of his loving savior Jesus Christ while in his sleep, surrounded by his two children Paul Bullington and Nancy Bullington Turnbo. He attended the Church of Jesus Christ.

He is the son of the late Tom and the late Geraldine (Sanders) Smith. Phillip married Martha Jean Meadows. He served in the National Guard and was a farmer. Phillip is survived by his wife: Martha Jean (Meadows) Smith , one daughter: Arlene (Robert) Smith Palmer of Ripley, TN and one son: Forrest (Erica) Smith of Ripley, TN; Brother of six sisters: Jean Conrad of Ripley, TN, Judy Garner of Munford, TN, Elizabeth Tillman of Ripley, TN, Ann Peyton of Henning, TN, Charlene Pilcher of Ripley, TN and Sharon Russell of Memphis, TN, and one brother: Charles Smith of Henning, TN; Phillip is also survived by 4 Grandchildren. Predeceased by his Brothers Marvin O. Smith, Theo Smith, Ray Smith, Ronald Smith. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 23 at Faith United Methodist Church, 8301 Hwy 87, Henning, TN with Bro. Tom McElyea officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Elizabeth H. Fowlkes, 91, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living. Born March 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John Columbus "Bunk" and Edna Nichols Holden. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, the Sellers Sunday School Class, and the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. She worked alongside her husband at Pierces Bargain Center in Southtown for many years. Mrs. Elizabeth raised thousands of dollars for the Community Cancer Fund and other local charities by selling her canned goods, sweets and bread. She was a member of Quilters Club at East Dyersburg Methodist, an avid bridge player and fisherman. She was a devoted Mother, Nana, and friend to all she knew, giving unselfishly of herself with her cooking, baking and unconditional love.
