Violet Williams

On September 15, Mrs. Violet Dean Neely Williams, 92 passed away at home surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with cancer. She was affectionately known as "Granny" or "Aunt Violet" to anyone who knew her for any length of time at all. She was a retired beautician and devout member of the Ripley Church of Christ. Her husband, Joseph "Perry" Williams, her father William Thomas Neely, and her mother Mary Lee Daniels Neely all preceded her in death. Also preceding her were her three sisters Jean Parks, Faye Stites, and Rose Maschinot, along with one brother Edmond Neely and most recently grandson Charles S. Cherry, Jr. and son-in-law Charles A. Cherry. Surviving relatives of Mrs. Williams are as follows: daughter, Perrilyn Williams Cherry, grandson Joe Mack Cherry and wife Tina of Greenbrier, TN. grandson Steve Cherry and wife Cindy of Ripley, TN, great grandsons Adam Cherry and wife Kaela of Allen, TX and Trevor Cherry of Greenbrier, TN. Great granddaughters Jena Cherry Davis and husband Charles of Amarillo, TX, Megan Zachary of Greenbrier, TN and Lauren Cherry of Jackson, TN. Prior to death, Mrs. Williams was able to hold her two-month-old great great granddaughter Ms. Perrilyn Hazel Davis of Amarillo, TX. Tuesday September 17th visitation will be from 5;00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ripley Church of Christ on Hwy. 51 Ripley, TN. Funeral service will be Wednesday September 18th at 1:00 pm, also at the Ripley Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Gates Cemetery. Halls Funeral Home will be in charge with Bro. Robert R. Wymond Moore

December 27, 1925 – August 31, 2013

Wymond Monroe Moore was born on Munn Moore's Hill in Halls on December 27, 1925 and died on August 31, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Maude Moore, his brother, Wayne Moore and sister-in-law Laura Moore. He is survived by a nephew and niece of Memphis and a number of cousins. Wymond was a World War II veteran, having served in the South Pacific. He was aboard Navy Ship PCE872, which directed the first landing on Okinawa on April 1, 1945. He is a member of the American Legion, a retired Westinghouse Corporation employee and was a member of the Halls First United First Methodist Church for many , many years. He was also very active in the Veteran's Museum in Halls. His service was held 12:00 pm. at Halls Funeral Home on September 4, 2013. Mr. Moore had requested any memorials be sent to the Veteran's Museum.
