Madge R. Massey Moore, age 85 of 12809 Woodbury Drive, Plymouth, Indiana passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday May 18, 2013 at her home in Plymouth. Madge was born on June 5, 1927 in Dyersburg, Tennessee to David and Lula Hawkins Massey. She became the bride of Paul Moore who passed away in 1986 while they were living in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After Paul's passing, Madge moved to Plymouth to be closer to her family. Madge retired from many years of office accounting, she also enjoyed her membership in the Women of the Moose Lodge 1355 in Plymouth. Madge is survived by her son, Paul David Moore of Plymouth; her niece, Shari Massey Whitener of Plymouth; sister, Erma (Dale) Stephenson of Gladwin, Michigan; Madge is preceded in death by her husband Paul; her parents, David and Lula Hawkins Massey; her sister, Christine Swain and her brother Billy (Bill) Massey. He was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, where he served in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart Medal. He was a graduate of University of Missouri, avid fisherman and golfer and loved working in the yard.

He was a 67-year member of First Baptist Church, Dyersburg, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Business Men's Sunday school class. Mr. Richardson was an avid sportsman playing baseball and refereeing basketball and football.

In 1973, he purchased the company, which came to be known as Williamson Ford Tractor Company. He was a member of West Dyersburg Church of Christ, where he was a Bible teacher for 60 years. He was a member of the Rotary Club, member of Freed Hardeman University Advisory Board and a member of Midsouth Farm Equipment Association Board of Directors.

For 66 years he was husband to Sue VanCanneyt who preceded him in death; loving father of Hal VanCanneyt of Collierville, TN, Donna VanCanneyt of Bartlett, TN. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Williams. He is survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and extended family and many friends who loved him and will miss him. He was a proud veteran of World War II and served his country for over twenty years. He retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army on August 1, 1961. He once shared with his children that he never expected to come back from serving in the Philippines, and every day since has just been a gift. That is the way he lived his life, grateful to God for every precious moment with loving family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at the Halls Funeral Home at 1pm. on Saturday May 4th. 2013.

Joe F. "Papa" Tidwell, Sr., 83 of Halls, TN, died Wednesday (4-17-13) at his residence. Born in Finley, TN, he was the son of the late William Alexander and the late Dovie (Haney) Tidwell. Mr. Joe was also an avid gardener and carpenter. He was a member of the Dyer County Fair Association. Mr. Joe was instrumental in the planning and building of the "Sorghum Village" exhibit at the Dyer County Fairgrounds. Mr. Joe, being a barber by profession, was notably interested in the authenticity and furnishings of the "Barber's Shop" exhibit. Many of his barber shop antiques are still on display today. Survived by his wife: Janene Tidwell, three daughters: Lisa (Mike) Tidwell Baker of Dyersburg, TN, Krysta (Eric) Adams Evans of Halls, TN, Dana (Ronnie) Adams Walker of Halls, TN and one son: Joe "Little Joe" And (Kathy) Tidwell of Dyersburg, TN Brother of one sister: Susie (Buck) Moore of Finley, TN and one brother: Billy (Mildred) Tidwell of Dyersburg, TN Mr. Joe is also survived by 8 grandchildren, one of which he raised as his own; Emilee Ruth Moore. Dr. James Parker Green, 85, died on April 17, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on November 18, 1927, son of the late Parker and Anna Green. He graduated from Dyersburg High School and attended Vanderbilt University, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. After graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, he entered the U.S. Army, serving as a 1st lieutenant in Korea and at Fort Hamilton, New York. Following his military service, he practiced general dentistry in Dyersburg for 48 years, receiving a Governor's award for his dental care of indigent children.

He was a lifelong member of the Dyersburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as treasurer and was a member of the building committee, board of elders, and board of trustees. Dr. Green was a Boy Scout leader, served as chairman of the Davy Crockett district and earned the Silver award. He was a member of the Dyersburg Rotary Club for 25 years, serving as president and secretary, and was a recipient of the Paul Harris award. He served as chairman of the Dyersburg planning commission.

She was a retired LPN and homemaker. She was an avid book reader and loved Paula Deen books, cookbooks and t.v. shows. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

Clyde Lawrence Bottoms, 102, of Dyersburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Maple Ridge Manor.

He was a retired insurance agent for Life of Georgia, where he worked for 35 years and was a founding member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
