She was born in Dyer County on January 3, 1933 to the late Silas and Georgia Hood. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Harold Brooks. They spent most of their life on a farm in the Bobwire Community, near Bogota. After moving to Dyersburg, she worked at Sylvania and Wal-Mart. Earline was a member of Lenox Baptist Church.

Jackie Guthrie Clymer passed away Monday, March 25, 2013. She was born May 15, 1931 to the late Warren and Nell Canada Guthrie of Dyersburg, where she grew up a very poplar young lady. She served as a Dyersburg High School cheerleader, cheering on her future husband Bill. They soon married and that marriage was blessed with a a daughter Karen Clymer Bickers, granddaughter Jada Bickers, nieces Brenda Guthrie Williams (Steve), Dianne Guthrie Roberts (Jerry), Debbie Guthrie, great nieces Laura Williams Burroughs (Jeff), Dawn Williams Todd and special care givers Rhonda Carden and Tanaya Bush. Jackie was preceded in death by a brother Gordon Guthrie and wife June and a sister Mary Francis. Jackie was a very active member of First Baptist Church since the age of sixteen, holding such positions as Christian Training Director as well as the first woman member of the church finance committee, participating in the choir and various other church activities. A quote from Jackie, "My goal in life is to help others and in so doing, make some kind of contribution that will leave this world a little better for having been here. I am so thankful for all that God has done for me." Jackie began her career as the first lady teller to be hired by First Citizens National Bank, soon moving on to further her career at Security State Bank as vice president in charge of public relations and marketing. During that time she served Dyer County as chairman of The American Heart Association, going on to serve on the state board of the American Heart Association along with the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, March of Dimes, Easter Seals and Senior Citizens, as a solicitor of funds for their groups. She was also honored to serve as the first woman elected Director of the Greater Dyersburg-Dyer County Chamber of Commerce as well as member of the Dyersburg Industrial Board. After her retirement from the banking world, she began a new career as one of the top real estate agents in this area. Services will be held Friday, March 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Mike Hickman and Reverend Raymond Boston with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Beverly Frizzell Magee passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born August 18, 1939, to William David and Ada Frizzell in Union City, Tennessee. Beverly lived in Union City until 1954 when the family moved to Memphis where she was in the first graduating class from White Station High School in 1957. While at White Station she was the first editor of the annual and the first football queen.

Beverly graduated cum laude from Memphis State University (University of Memphis) in 1961. She was named Who's Who among students in American Universities where she served as Senior Judge on the Supreme Court as well as treasurer of Phi Mu Sorority. She came to Dyersburg to teach English where she met and married Milton E. Magee, her husband of 51 years. That marriage was blessed with a son, Milton E. Magee, Jr. (Jennifer), an attorney in Memphis, and a daughter, Maribeth M. Martin (Eric), of Montgomery County, TN.

Darrell Moody Manning of Halls, Tennessee passed away Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2013 after a short illness. He was surrounded by family. He was born on April 23, 1924, the son of the late Felix Manning and Annie Riddick Manning. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marlin Manning. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife Geraldine Lilley Manning. They were married for over 64 years. He leaves his three sons and daughters-in-law Kenny and Sharlene Manning of Halls, Gary and Patricia Manning of Arlington, TN and Ritchie and Jean Manning of Halls. He also leaves seven grand children, Dustin and Deanda Manning of Halls, Shey and Joseph Manning Whitby of Alamo, Caitlyn and Brandon Manning Maas of Memphis, Caleb Manning of Arlington, Clare Manning of Arlington, Andrew Manning of Halls and Hannah Manning of Halls. He leaves three great grand children, William Maas of Memphis, Davis Manning of Halls and Ella Whitby of Alamo. Additionally, he leaves his sister and caretaker, Joyce Wharey and his sister, Cornelia Alleshouse, both of Maury City. He was a member of what Tom Brokaw called, "The Greatest Generation" in his book by the same title. Although he was unable to serve in the military due to a childhood foot injury, he served his country by moving to San Francisco, CA to work in the ship yards during World War II. Near the end of the war, he returned to Crockett County where he married his beautiful wife, Geraldine Lilley. He became a farmer and eventually went into the construction business as a bridge builder. He built many of the original bridges along Interstate 40 between Memphis and Nashville, but he never lost his love for tilling the soil and raising his registered Black Angus cattle. He left the construction industry to devote his full attention to the farming operation. He and his son Kenny founded Manning Farms. In the late 1970's his family was featured in The Farm Wife News, a national magazine publication featuring stories about farm families. He was a Freemason and a member of the Woodmen of The World Fraternal Organization. Most importantly, he was a Christian and he loved his Lord and Master, Jesus Christ. He served his Lord as a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church for many years. Visitation will be at the Lebanon United Methodist Church, 5737 Chesnutt Bluff Maury City Rd. Friendship, TN from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 19th. And Wednesday March 20th. starting at 12:00pm. until service time. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church with burial to follow in the Lebanon Cemetery.

Mr. Cole worked alongside his wife of 54 years at Brown Shoe Company in Lexington and Savannah, TN. He retired after 35 years of employment when they moved to Dyersburg in 1995. His most treasured days were spent with his grandsons. He also enjoyed fishing and building bluebird houses. He was a Mason of Lodge 102 in Savannah and also served in the National Guard. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Dyersburg conducted by Dr. David Russell. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm at Gibson County Memory Gardens in Humboldt.
