He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Lee Weaver and Virginia Mayberry. He leaves his wife, Lavon "Sissy" Arrington of Dyersburg, and a sister, Judy Fuqua of Sharon, TN. He also leaves five children, Jill Stewart, Jan McCrary, Lee Ann Maxwell, Vicky Hinton, and Rick Jones; three step-daughters, Debbie Proberts, Donna Singh, and Sandy Okubo; and sixteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg on Friday, November 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and the funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely, TN. Mr. Johnny D. Proud, 57, of Dyersburg died Friday, October 22, 2010 at his residence. He was owner of Touchdown Club, Proud Monuments and Limousine and Halls Memorial Gardens. He was also a licensed funeral director and embalmer in Tennessee and Missouri. Services will be at 1:00 pm Monday, October 25, 2010 in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Scherffius officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The Proud family will receive visitors Sunday afternoon from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Willis Proud and Allison Curry Phelps and husband Dustin, both of Dyersburg, his parents John and Geraldine Proud of Newbern, his sister Nita Epperson and husband Ronnie of Newbern and 1 grandson, David Tyler Proud. Pallbearers will be Jerry Sharp, Dustin Phelps, Gerald Ketchum, Tim Dunagan, David Ross, Jerry Maupin, Eric Maupin, and Jerry Willoughby. Family requests memorials be directed to the Community Cancer Fund, PO Box 1080, Dyersburg, TN 38025-1080.
