Jerry Thomas Vaughn, 82, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born August 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Harry Thedford Vaughn and Virginia Louise Porch Vaughn. Mr. Vaughn proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a Baptist. Although Jerry was retired from different occupations over a very long, wonderful life, his most cherished positions were as husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his sweeties and buddies both little and big. He loved to go fishing and in later life, he loved to paint. He cherished every get-to-gather, drop by, phone call, or text. To know Jerry was to know someone who loved his family with every breath. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Brother Nathe Ozment with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Stephen Stephenson, Hunter Newsome, Michael Birmingham, Tim Vaughn, Jeff Coker, Paul Thompson, Brannon Stephenson and Austin Massey will honor Mr. Vaughn by serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 8th beginning at 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis Vaughn; one daughter, Susan Massey (Teddy) of Oxford, MS; two sons, Scott Vaughn (Angie) of Dyersburg, Jason Vaughn of Finley; one sister, Linda Coker of Fowlkes, one brother, Ronnie Vaughn of Fowlkes; five grandchildren Magean Stephenson (Stephen), Katie Newsome (Hunter), Madison Vaughn (Michael), Austin Massey, and Miley Massey; and five great-grandchildren Brannon, Lexi, Finn, Jax and Robert. He is the son of the late Carl and the late Zelma (Moore) Smith. He was a retired truck driver. He is survived by his wife: Rita Diane (Campbell) Smith, one daughter: Brandy (John) Bates of Halls, TN and one son: Jamie Bluew of Halls; He also leaves one brother Calvin Smith. He also leaves behind four grandchildren: Hailee Jo Wallace, Ashton Brooke Wallace, Brietta Payge and Bailee Lynn Bluew. Mr. Dennis was preceded in death a sister Peggy Crider and two brothers Edward Smith and Billy Smith. Lois is survived by one daughter: Lisa (Tim) Schaffer of Brighton, TN and one son: Cliff Barham of Jackson, TN; One sister: Jenny Barnes of Waverly, TN and; Two Sister In Laws, Bessie Mae Barlow of Ripley, TN, and Clara Barlow Conley of Dyersburg, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Earl Barham, two brothers; Jerry Barlow and Barry Crihfield and two Grand Children, Clint Schaffer, and Mercy Ward Barham. She is the daughter of the late Charlie Eugene and the late Reba (Pritchard) Olds. Mrs. Rhonda was a homemaker. Mrs. Rhonda is survived by her husband: Clarence Eugene Hammock , three daughters: Jacqueline Michelle Woodard of Ripley, TN, Katina Williams of Halls, TN and Faith Hammock of Halls, TN, and four sons: David Lee Hutcherson of Halls, TN, Steven Eugene Hammock of TX, Michael Thomas Hammock of TX and Joshua Lynn Hutcherson of Henning, TN; three sisters: Barbara Bullington of Ripley, TN, Betty Huey of Ripley, TN and Carolyn Taylor of Ripley, TN, and one brother: Randy Olds of Brighton, TN; Mrs. Rhonda was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Jackson.

Mr. Roy Haden Williams, Jr.
March 20, 1923 – October 31, 2021
The Good Lord took another son, Roy Haden Williams Jr., home on October 31, 2021. Roy was born on March 20,1923, to Effie Perry Williams and Roy Haden Williams Sr. From the start, Roy was an animal lover and outdoorsman. By the age of six, he was hunting, fishing and plowing with a mule! Roy had a natural mechanical ability and a wonderfully creative mind. He created his own coffee pot on a timer before Mr. Coffee got his to the market! Few of his personal possessions escaped some sort of tweaking to make them perform to his standards. He also brought several innovations to the Army Corps of Engineers which they gladly employed on their barges. When war was declared, Roy enlisted in the Marine Corp and served in the Pacific Theater. He had many tales about his experiences during that phase of his life and was very proud of his service to his country. Upon his return to Tennessee, Roy began working for the Army Corps of Engineers where he served until retirement. More importantly, after the war Roy met and married the love of his life, Minnie Zell Gilliland. Their marriage lasted 74 years, until her passing in 2020. They had two daughters, Lana Koontz and Cathy Pierce. When Roy and Minnie Zell began to need to live closer to family, they moved to Madison, Wisconsin, and then to Virginia Beach, Virginia. The biggest bonus for moving to Virginia came in the form of a wonderful relationship with his namesake, Haden Lacy. This year, he was able to welcome his second great grandson, Callan Lacy, into the world. He leaves behind his daughters, Lana Koontz of Virginia Beach, VA and Cathy Pierce (Jay) of Easton, MD, and four grandchildren: Bryan Koontz in Winnipeg, Canada; Jason Koontz (Cara) in Colorado Springs, CO; Leanne Koontz (Jerritt) in Virginia Beach, VA; and Ethan Koontz (Jennifer) in Baltimore, MD as well as his two great grandsons, Haden and Callan. He is also survived by two nieces and one nephew. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 6, from 10:00-11:00am, at Halls Funeral Home, Halls, TN. The service will immediately follow at 11:00am at the funeral home. Trent McManus will officiate, with the Fincher Family offering praise in song. Rickie F. Tidwell, 68, of Dyersburg, died late Sunday evening, October 31, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born May 27, 1953, he was the son of the late Elmer and Lydia B. Johnson Tidwell. Rickie proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and as a policeman for the City of Dyersburg. He was the best husband, wonderful father and Pawpaw. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
