He was a retired truck driver for TDOT. Joe is survived by two sisters; Dora Mae Colvin and Lola V. Brown both of Ripley, TN, and his Caregiver, Alan Cates of Ripley, TN and several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Joy Johnson Hodge and fourteen brothers and sisters. Our Mother and Matriarch, Ann Laura Green “Yates”, a very special lady, was born in Dyersburg, TN on March 30, 1926 and went to Heaven on December 10, 2020. She was truly a part of the “Greatest Generation”. The daughter of Daniel Parker Green and Anna Green (brothers James and Daniel Green), Ann grew up during the Great Depression. The family moved all over the country, living in Arkansas, Oregon, California and eventually finding their way back to Dyersburg at the beginning of WWII. Ann graduated from Dyersburg High School Class of 1944. She continued her studies at Vanderbilt/Peabody University majoring in Education. Ann met her husband of 58 years, Horatio Seymour Yates, while at Vanderbilt. Already a WWII Veteran and fellow student, Seymour won her heart by inviting her to a Cumberland Church revival. As a life long Cumberland Presbyterian Church member, that was the key to her hearta good looking and Christian young man. They married June 24, 1949 and Ann began her teaching career in History and Home Economics. They started their family in Nashville and moved back to Dyersburg in 1969. Anna “Moody” (Dyersburg, TN) was born 1st, followed by Kathryne “Burks” (Franklin, TN), Charlie Yates (Murfreesboro, TN) and Danny Yates (Rogers, AR).

Mary Helen Davis Jimerson, 94, passed away on December 9th, 2020 in Dyersburg where she was born. She started working for Bell South (AT&T) while still in high school. After 34 years of service, she retired from Bell South in 1979. Her working life continued at Peebles, Daylight Donuts and the service desk in Dyersburg Mall where she retired from at the age of 89 . She made many life-long friends while employed at the phone company including her good friend Dorothy Mae LaRue. She was strong-willed, independent, had a strong work ethic, a good sense of humor, and a common sense approach to life. She had a gift for decorating. When she bought something she liked she said she could always find a place for it, evidenced by all the teapots, pictures and display cabinets found in her home. Travel was not her thing. At the end of the day she wanted to be home sleeping in her own bed. Her favorite meal was corn bread, white beans and cabbage boiled with a little bacon grease and salt added to the water. She loved taters fried in an iron skillet and she baked a delicious pecan pie. She loved cats, especially an old yellow tom named Tiger. Even after he passed on she would continue to put out food for any critters that might be passing through. She was a stylish dresser and always had to have lipstick on whenever she went out.

He is the son of the late Wyman and the late Zanna (Clement) Holder. Mr. Cloyce served in the armed forces and was owner and operator of Holder's Candy Wholesale. He is survived by his wife: Daisy Alice (Langly) Holder of Ripley, TN, one daughter: Bernice (Guinn) Hodges of Milan, TN and one son: Marshall "Mark" (Sharrye) Holder of Hickory Withe, TN. Mr. Cloyce was preceded in death by three sisters; Merle Robertson, Julia Hall, and Charlotte Boren, and two Brother's; Dee Holder and Billy Wayne Holder. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 10 at Grace Bible Baptist Church, 8000 HWY 51 N., Halls, TN with Bro. She served 38 years as bookkeeper for Belew & Ray Drugs, followed by another 11 years as bookkeeper for C&C Pharmacy, before retiring. Patty was a member of First Baptist Church. She was known for a lways having a chocolate pie ready whenever someone was sick or in times of death.

Floyd Prows, 71, of Tiptonville, TN, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital, Dyersburg, TN, after succumbing to a Covid-19 infection. Mr. Prows, a former resident of Blount County, TN, was born on Nov. 4, 1949, at Somerset Hospital, Somerset, Ky., the son of the late Burgess Prows and the late Emmaline Prows Williamson. Survivors include Mr. Prows' sister, Kathleen Prows Atchley, and brother-in-law, Lowell Atchley, Lexington, Ky., and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Prows was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Christopher Lawhon, Alcoa, TN. Mr. Prows' remains will be interred at a later date following a private gathering at a burial site at LaFollette, Tenn. We are privileged and honored to serve the Prows family. Mrs. Lou Etta Brown, of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020 at Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital. She was born Oct. 16, 1935, in Roellen TN to the late Major & Lacy Cathey. She was a graduate of Newbern High School and later took classes at Dyersburg State as an adult. She was a devoted homemaker and seamstress in her community. She was a member of Fowlkes Baptist Church and also attended Barker's Chapel church. She was beloved by her family and their friends as "Nannie" and enjoyed sewing for them and attending any function that her grandchildren were involved in.

Mr. Jerry Ray Foren, of Dyersburg, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2020 at his residence. He was born March 9, 1943 to B. & Mary Foren of Bradford, TN, where he lived most of his life. He was a graduate of Bradford High School and served in the Tennessee National Guard. He volunteered for many years as Treasurer for the Bradford Church of Christ. He is remembered as an avid gardener-always sharing his crops, as an excellent cook and devoted family-man. He retired after many years with the Brown Shoe Co. in Trenton where he was the warehouse superintendent but also liked to say that he was a "Hobby Farmer". Upon moving to Dyersburg to be close to his family, the Forens attended West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

. David Allen Crans, age 76 of Dyersburg, passed away Thursday morning, November 19, 2020 at Tri-Star Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN after a short illness. His loving wife of 30 years, Cathy Crans, was at his side. He was welcomed into Heaven with a worthy servants welcome. David was born July 28, 1944 in Hastings, Michigan to Julius and Vada Allen Crans who preceded him in death. He was a well-distinguished Master Engineer who was well-respected in the Tooling Industry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Gina and four brothers: Robert, Henry, Claude, and Eugene. David was loving father to Tina (Sam), Kimberly (Robert) and Cleve (Holly). Proud grandfather of Will (Brittany), Kenny (Chesney), Luke (Kati), Anne, Brooke, Blake (Gabriella), Katie and Kaycee. Great-grandfather to Liam, Lillian, Ellie, Adrianna, Cash, Charlotte, Banks and Leo. David is further survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly. David will be fondly remembered by all as a loving husband, father, woodworker, teller of stories, his love of antiquing, his incredible way of singing “Happy Birthday”, fishing and his infectious smile. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 2020 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Brian Grow.
