Born September 22, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Lester Thomas Gruggett and Ollie Vesti Ammons Gruggett. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2019 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Brother David Brooks with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. She is survived by her four daughters Patty Newman Rogers (Josh) of Dyersburg, Sara Newman Hardee (Jeremy) of Ripley, Cindy Newman Calhoun (Andy) of Lakeland, Paula Newman Cremeans (Matthew) of North Carolina, and ten grandchildren Garrett, Gunnar and Samuel Grant Rogers, Hadley and Rylee Hardee, Emma Calhoun, Makinley and Sydney McCutchen, Luke and Quinn Cremeans, and one sister Janet Watson of Marion, Arkansas and one brother George Grugett of Thompsons Station, Tennessee. Dallas Watson, Houston Watson, Sylvester Simpson, Jeremy Rogers, Gene Whitney and James Bunn will serve as pallbearers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Danny Newman. The family would also like to acknowledge the staff of West Tennessee Health Care Dyersburg Hospital for their quality care. Brenda was a retired factory worker who always took great pride in being a farmers wife. Brenda enjoyed the fellowship of her church and being actively involved with the activities of the Cloverdale Community Center. Services for Mrs. Gardner will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at Zion Methodist Church Cemetery at Cloverdale at 10:00 a.m. officiated by Brother Joe Thorn. Survivors include her daughter: Kim Dial and her husband, James of Cloverdale, TN; one granddaughter: Kelsy Dial of Cloverdale, TN; and two sisters: Kay Strawn of Dyersburg, TN, and Jan Kennedy of McLemoresville, TN. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years: Royce Gardner; and, one brother: Mike Townsend.
