Mrs. Cole worked alongside her husband of 54 years at Brown Shoe Company in Lexington and Savannah, TN. After retirement, they moved to Dyersburg in 1995. Her most treasured days were spent with her daughter and her grandsons. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is the daughter of the late Houston and the late Oma (Brock) Root. She was a homemaker and a babysitter. "Mama Jean" as she was so affectionately called, offered love to many children. She is survived by one daughter: Pamela (Ralph) Harrison of Henning, TN and two sons: James Houston Davis of Gates, TN and Timothy (Jungja Woo) Davis of Munford, TN; sister of three sisters: Juanita Lawson of London, KY, Hester Gregory of Quitman, GA and Edna Hayre of London, KY. Laura also leaves behind 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Spencer Davis, a sister, Esther Thomas and 5 brothers, Buster Root, Kenneth Root, Bill Root, Carl Root, and George Root. Ruth Parham

Ruth Rodgers Parham went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 27, 2019. She began her journey on earth August 14, 1934 in Haywood County. She was the last child born to Ethel and Eddie Rodgers. Her father was a farmer, where she first learned all about hard work. She married October 6, 1951 and was blessed with a son, Anthony Parham December 11, 1955. She continued to live the farm life; and then for years, she held public jobs. She was a member of Palestine First United Methodist Church. She was an avid flower gardener and loved sharing her flowers and plants with family and friends. Her favorite flower was the Shasta daisy. She was a faithful worker for the Dyer County Democratic Party. She believed in hard work, love, kindness, honesty, humility, faith, forgiveness and always doing everything possible to help others physically, emotionally and with understanding. An abundance of love was always shown for her family and friends as a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Mother-in-law and aunt. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Reverend Bill Phipps with interment to follow in Zion Cemetery at Zion First United Methodist Church in Haywood County, where she first became a church member at the age of twelve. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 30th beginning at 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Michael Parham, Steven Riggs, Wallace Hutcherson, Tom Griffin, David Frisbee and Albert Sargent will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Hutcherson, Dalvin Hutcherson, Danny Cooper and Floyd Rogers. She is survived by her son, Anthony Parham and wife Debra of Dyersburg; grandson Michael Parham and wife Jenny of RoEllen; granddaughter Kellie Parham Riggs and husband Steven of Dyersburg; three great-grandchildren, Eli Riggs, Ethan Riggs, Evelyn Ruth Parham; and many nieces and nephews. John Andrew “Andy” Fisher, Jr., 61, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, January 26, 2019 at West Tennessee Healthcare - Dyersburg Hospital. Born August 8, 1957, he was the son of the John Andrew Fisher, Sr. and Charline Sigman Fisher. He was a lifelong Methodist, first serving his home church, Dyersburg First United Methodist Church as Director of the Family Life Center, then becoming a Certified Lay Minister, currently pastoring Friendship United Methodist Church and Elizabeth United Methodist Church. While he served as Director of the Family Life Center, he helped to establish and organize the Upward Program. Andy was an EMT Paramedic Coordinator with the State of Tennessee and a charter member of Tennessee E.M.S. Educators Association.

Kelly Jones, 75, of Ridgely, died Thursday, January 3, 2019 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital. Born April 6, 1943, he was the son of the late Fred Nicholas Sr. and Velma Elizabeth Kelly Jones. He was a retired Captain with the State of Tennessee Department of Corrections and a member of Dew Drop Independent Church. Kelly was also the Former Chief Deputy with the Lake County Sheriffs Department. He was a loving, kind hearted man to all those who knew him. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Dew Drop Independent Church officiated by Reverend Robert Mann. The family will receive friends Friday, January 4th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the church. He is survived by his wife Ruth Jones; five daughters, Tammy Jones Coons (Phil) of Red Hook, NY, Tracey Jones Harrell (Auzie) of Martin, Susan Michelle Campbell (Charles) of Ridgely, Shanda Sue Higgins of Tiptonville, Tammy Renee Darbyshire (Mike) of Hartford, KS; two sons, Marty Douglas Jones of Tiptonville, Jason Kelly Jones (Meghan), USAF stationed in Italy; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Elizabeth Ann Cummings of Milan. Brandon Harrell, Christopher Harrell, Samuel Harrell, Auzie Harrell, Jackie Howell and Mark Roberson will serve as pallbearers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Cheryl Kay Adams and one brother, Fred Nicholas Jones, Jr. The family requests memorials be directed to Dew Drop Independent Church, 11124 Millsfield Highway, Obion, TN 38240.
