Aaron Guy Staulcup, 94, of Ridgely, TN, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

He was born on July 15, 1923 in Tiptonville, TN, to the late Lynn Grady Staulcup and the late Emma Lydia Adams Staulcup. He was a senior mechanic on B17 airplanes at the Halls Airbase during World War II. Aaron was living in Ridgley, where he met and married his wife of 65 years, Jo Ruth McCutchen Staulcup. He was a retired farmer and landowner and was also a charter member of the Lake County Farm Bureau, where he served as president for 26 years. He was a member of the Willingham Memorial Baptist Church in Ridgely and a certified Lay Speaker for both the Memphis Methodist Conference and Gideon's International. In 2004, Staulcup was awarded the Harry Denman Evangelism Award. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Oriental Shrines, and a lifetime contributor to the Shriner's cripple children and burns hospitals.

He was born on November 24, 1949, in Tiptonville, TN to the late Cornell Rhodes and the late Edna Rose Jones Rhodes. RT was a retired employee from the TN Department of Corrections. He was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church and was also a member of the American Legion. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam Era. RT was an avid horseman. He could be seen many days riding in the fields near his home. He loved teaching others to ride, especially children. RT attended Lake County High School.

"Coach" James M. Counce, Jr., 68, of Dyersburg, formerly of Paris, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional.

He was born on July 6, 1949 in South Fulton, TN, to the late James M. Counce, Sr. and the late Ada Belle Roach Counce. He was a long-time football coach in West TN, with his longest stints at Dyersburg and Henry Co. high schools. His overall coaching record was 235-95; the winningest football coach in the history of two programs (Dyersburg and Henry Co.), and assistant coach at MBA in 2007 when it won the Division II State Championship. He had two perfect seasons and two 5A State Championships as head coach of Henry Co. (2011, 2013) and retired after the 2014 season. Coach took immense pride in the life accomplishments of his players. In 2017, Coach was elected to the TSSAA Hall of Fame. He was a member of West Dyersburg Church of Christ and was also a graduate of Murray State University. He loved his time on the rear deck of his house with a cup of coffee and enjoyed calm times with his family on the beach. Coach was an avid waterfowl hunter and fisherman.

James Doc Hendren, 83, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his residence.

Doc was born on October 26, 1933 on the hilltop of the family farm, where he lived until his death. He was a retired farmer, carpenter and restaurant owner. He also owned one of the 10 Century Farms in Dyer County. In 1950, Doc introduced the first tractor and in 1957 the first cotton picker in the Dyer County Area. Doc and his wife, Mary, owned the Juke Box Cafe, also known as the "Hog Trough". Doc was a Historian, an avid gardener and loved to fish and hunt. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his two cats, Queenie and Cooper. Anytime you saw Doc, he always had a kind word, a huge smile and wearing his cowboy hat.

Tony D. Moore, age 67, of Ripley died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Jackson-Madison Co. General Hospital of Jackson, TN. He was born July 8, 1950 in Memphis, TN. and is the son of the late T. L. and the late Dorothy (Watts) Moore. Tony married Lisa Jennings. Tony served in the Air National Guard of Tennessee and as a reserve of the Air Force and was a former Maintenance Supervisor for Tennessee Electroplating in Ripley. Tony is survived by his wife: Lisa (Jennings) Moore, two daughters: Tori (Danny) Terry of Gates, TN and Leah (Scott) Mayfield of Halls, TN, and two sons: Dustin (Becky) Ray of Ripley, TN and Bryson (Shelley) Ray of Ripley, TN, Brother of two sisters: Joey (Mike) Riley of Frog Jump, TN. and Becky (James) Taylor of Austin, TX.,; Tony is also survived by 7 Grandchildren. Lillian Russell Yarbro, 90, of Dyersburg died October 7, 2017, at the Dyersburg Manor Nursing Home. Born April 6, 1927, in Tiptonville, TN. She was the daughter of the late Clem and Lillian Richardson Armstrong. She was the wife of Bert Yarbro, Jr. for 59 years until his death in 2006. They made their home in Hickman, Kentucky until 2000 when they moved to Dyersburg.

Russell, as she was called, was a fun loving generous person who was loved by many. She was an excellent seamstress and represented Dyer County in the Sew With Cotton division at the Mid-South Fair. She was a quilter and recently won The Best of Show at the Dyer County Fair for her yoyo quilt. She loved to sew, travel, play cards, and be around young people at church. She took her last trip at the age of 88 cruising through the Panama Canal. Russell was a 50 year lifetime member of the Fulton County-Kentucky Extension Homemakers and was always ready to learn a new craft or hobby. She was a member of the Regional Hospital Senior Circle, Dyer County Senior Citizens, Dyersburg Home Demonstration Club, and the West Dyersburg Church of Christ.

Joe Frank Jackson, 93, of Newbern, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born on March 1, 1924 in Newbern, to the late Aaron and Genier London Jackson. Joe was the retired owner of Jackson Sheet Metal Works. He was a Sunday School Teacher and a member of Parr Avenue Church of Christ. Joe was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a Helmsman on the LST 54. He made 52 trips across the English Channel to include France, Belgium and Norway and served on D-Day. He was a cattle farmer and an avid vegetable gardener. Joe believed in taking care of widows and the less fortunate. He was a devout husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald Ray Lock, 75, announces his passing on Thursday October 5th, 2017.

Don was born May 27, 1942 in Dyersburg, TN to James and Lena Lock. He grew up with his 5 siblings and lived in Dyersburg, TN until the family moved to Chicago, IL to find work in the 1950's, where he attended James Hedges Elementary School and Gage Park High School. From 1962 – 1964 he served the United States of America as an Army Paratrooper in the 101 st Airborne Division, during which time he also married his high school sweetheart Charlotte Grady (Black). Don had his one and only son, Mark Ray Lock, on June 3 rd , 1965 following his honorable discharge from the Army. From that time on, Don became a long-haul commercial truck driver, known by the handle "One & Only". After more than forty years on the road, Don retired and enjoyed his golden years "taking it easy" and watching two of his favorite actors, John Wayne and Linda Evans, in western TV shows.

She was retired after 44 years at Dyersburg Fabrics.
