Born October 9, 1923, he was the son of the late Eli Mace and Luna Vercie Rumley Palmer. He was an active member of the Northside Church of Christ of Dyersburg. He was a World War II Navy veteran, retired from the U. S. Postal Service, former employee of the Coca-Cola Company, and preached for various congregations, including the Twin Oaks Church of Christ, Huntingdon, Tn.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Fairview Cemetery, Dyersburg Tn. conducted by Brother Don McCaslin and Brother Rick Willis.

Jean Ball Spence passed away peacefully March 22, 2017. Born in 1928 in Lauderdale County, she attended Union University and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. For over forty years, she was a faculty member of Crockett and Lauderdale County School systems. A lover of her community, Jean enjoyed bridge, her friends, and especially music. She also dedicated many hours as a Board Member of the Veterans' Museum in Halls; a past Board Member of Western State Mental Health Board in Bolivar, TN; past President of the Halls First United Methodist Women; past Regent of the Fort Prudhomme DAR Chapter in Lauderdale County; and Life Member of Junior Auxillary of Lauderdale County in Ripley, TN. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, William G. Spence,Jr.; parents, Myra and Alvin Ball; and brother Francis Alvin Ball. She is survived by a daughter Susannah Brown(Bill) of Madison, MS., a son Will Spence(Katie) of Crockett County, four grandchildren, Hathaway McMillon(Alex), Guy Spence(Megan), William ( Buck) Brown, and Anna Rodgers(Wes) and four great-grandchildren, Wimberly McMillion, Liam Spence, Reed Rodgers, and Carter Spence. Billy F. Brewer, 77, of Dyersburg, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at his residence. Born August 13, 1939, he was the son of the late Oscar and Neva Boone Brewer. Bill was a kind man and avid outdoorsman, whether it was farming from sunup to sundown or hunting his favorite wild game of the season. He was a deacon in the Baptist church and song leader for 35 plus years of his life. Married to his childhood sweetheart, Wanda Gibson Brewer, for 58 years this past Valentines Day, they loved golfing together with close friends. His great love extended, not only to his children and grandchildren, but to the community of family and friends of Halls and Dyersburg.

Billy Nathan Strain, 75, of Tiptonville, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born on September 2, 1941 in Ridgely, TN to the late Roscoe Herbert Strain and the late Nema Norene Gilliland Strain. Nathan was retired from The State of Tennessee with the Northwest Correctional Facility. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tiptonville and was also a member of the Tennessee Sheriff's Association.

He is the son of the late Erist and the late Mai Hill. Loyvoid married Joyce V. Henson on June 24, 1973. He was employed by the Lauderdale Co. Hwy. Dept. as a Truck Driver. Jerry Lee "Pug" Webb, 69, of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

He was born on April 23, 1947 in Blytheville, AR to the late Ellis B. Webb and the late Rosie Katherine Chaney Webb. Pug was a retired supervisor with Voith Maintenance and was a current part time employee of Acred's Shoe Store. He was a member of First Baptist Church, was an avid duck hunter, fisherman and U.T. Football Fan and enjoyed good times with his family. For a great start to his day, Pug would enjoy going for morning coffee with all his Roellen friends at Hilltop Grocery. Pug also served in the TN Army National Guard.
