Allen Hester, President & CEO of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Chamber of Commerce, died Friday, February 3 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Holly Finley Hester, son Andrew Hester (Karen) of Jackson TN, daughter Sara Hester of Murray KY, stepdaughters Finley Leslie (Brandon) and Claire White of Dyersburg TN, mother June Strickland Hester, brother Howard Hester, and Sister Paula Jacquez, all of Memphis. He was preceded in death by his father William A. Hester, Sr., and a brother, John Hester. Mr. Hester is survived by two grandchildren, Evelyn and Sloan Allen Hester.

Mr. Hester was born in Memphis on June 25, 1951, the oldest of four siblings. He attended Oakhaven High School, graduating in 1969. He enrolled at what was then Memphis State University in 1969. He left college in the early 70's to pursue his lifelong interest in music; returned in the late 70's, graduating in 1980 with a degree in Journalism.

On February 14, 1959, he married Julia Tott in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1965. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Dyersburg, a member of the Rotary Club and was also an avid golfer. Bernie worked at H&R Block in Dyersburg after his retirement.

She is the daughter of the late Vernice and the late Kathleen (Littles) Privett. Vicki was a homemaker. She is survived by one daughter: Jada Young of Alamo, TN and two sons: Ricky Davis of Halls, TN and Ryan Martinec of Knoxville, TN, Sister of two sisters: Dianne Brown and Lisa Privett both of Halls, TN. Peacefully after a long battle with health complications at Jackson Madison County General Hospital, Bobby Steve Jones, 63, a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and brother-in-law, will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Jones was born on November 3, 1953 in Dyersburg, TN to his parents, Shirley Temple Griggs- Jones and the late Marshall Jones. He married Hyacinth Weeks in 1975. He and his wife moved to St. Louis, MO and had two sons Bobby Joe Jones and Michael Steve Jones. He worked as a truck driver. He retired in 1996 and returned to Dyersburg, TN. He loved the "Blues", played guitar, and could dance and stump like no other. He spent his remaining time reconnecting with family and enjoying life.

She was an avid bridge player and was involved with a weekly group known as The Almighty Bridge Club. She was also a member of The Field Club and The Oaks Club in Osprey and was very supportive of Marie Selby Botanical Gardens.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at St. Marys Episcopal Church conducted by Reverend Gary Meade. Pallbearer will be Elliot Bloch. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
