He is the son of the late James "Jack" Andrew and the late Audra Isadora (Ellis) Scallions. He is survived by his wife: Shelby Jean (Townsend) Scallions and one daughter: Marilyn (Joe) Garrison of Ripley, TN. He also leaves 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Anne Kirk, 84, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Dyersburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Born June 2, 1932 in Fort Worth, TX, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie Clark. She was a retired principal in the Dyer County School System and member of First United Methodist Church. Kirk joined Dyer County Schools in 1972 as an elementary teacher. In 1976, she took the role of principal of RoEllen Elementary School. She was the first female principal hired in the school system in 1976. She then served as principal of Fifth Consolidated from 1979 to 1990, when she retired from the system. Anne was a well- respected principal and role model for other educators, parents and students. She helped establish the Adopt-A-School program. She avidly supported the Dyer County Union Mission, Children Services Child Abuse Team, National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, and The Hope House. Her hobbies included reading, traveling, and gardening.

Earl L. Willoughby, Sr.

Earl L. Willoughby, Sr., 90, of Dyersburg, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Highlands of Dyersburg.

He was a retired street department supervisor for the City of Dyersburg and served 12 years as a City of Dyersburg Police Officer. Earl was a member of the Christ Church Baptist Fellowship and was a Mason. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving his country during WWII and the Korean War. While in WWII, he served in the 11th Constabulary regiment in Germany. During the Korean War, he received the Purple Heart Medal.

J. and the late Pauline (Sorrell) Yarbrough. He was employed by Heckethorn. He is survived by one daughter: Melissa (Larry) Shawver of Fowlkes, TN and two sons: Jeff (LaNea) Yarbrough of Fowlkes, TN and Shannon (John Hine) Yarbrough of St. Louis, MO. Brother of two sisters: Grace Davis of West Memphis, AR and Rebecca Williams of Fowlkes, TN, and two brothers: Paul Yarbrough of Parsons, TN and Theron Yarbrough of Newbern, TN. Thomas also leaves 9 grandchildren Ashton and Brandon Shawver, Chris, Brent and Dustin Reed, Tessie Jones, Jamie McCurrie, Mandy Bates and Tiffany Reed. He leaves 6 Great-Grandchildren. Thomas was a member of Fowlkes Baptist Church. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 7 at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN with Bro. Don Williams and Bro. George Albert ( Don ) Ellwood, Jr., age 88, of Gates died Friday, December 2, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East of Memphis, TN. Don was born May 23, 1928 in Toledo, OH. He is the son of the late George Albert and the late Mary Belle (Coss) Ellwood, Sr.. He married Dorothy Bridges-Ellwood. He retired from the Navy as a piping draftsman. Don is survived by his wife: Dorothy (Bridges-Ellwood) Ellwood four sons: Bruce Ellwood of Largo, FL, Craig Ellwood of Pineallas Park, FL, Perry Ellwood of Carson, CA and Christopher Ellwood of Atoka, TN,; Brother of one sister: Linda Braak of Somersville, SC. William Robert "Bobby" Cagle, Sr.

William Robert "Bobby" Cagle, Sr., 67, of Dyersburg, passed away on Sunday at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional.

Bobby attended Hillcrest Baptist Church and had a membership at Halls Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Nantahala. He was remembered for his ball playing at a young age. Bobby was an avid golfer and lived his life to the fullest. Making his last selfless act being an organ donor so that two people would have the gift of sight.

Mr. Fred Bishop, Jr., 78, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional Hospital. Born March 11, 1938, he was the son of Fred and Anna Mable (“Polly”) Bishop. He was a retired truck driver for Brubaker Trucking Company and a member of the Fort Hudson Baptist Church. He loved working in his shop, repairing his mowing equipment and was an avid reader. The love of his life was his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Thursday, December 1, 2016 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Don Layman with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
