Marilyn Rae Freeman Pearson, 83, of Tiptonville, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at her residence.

She was a retired teacher with the Lake County Board of Education. She was a very active and former Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church in Tiptonville. Ms. Marilyn has a B.S. Degree from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville and has additional college hours from U.T. Martin, Memphis State and Tennessee State University. She was a member of the Tiptonville Women's League, a member of the Lake County Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Lake County Education Association. She was also a member of the Tennessee Education Association and member of the National Education Association. Marilyn was Educator of The Year in 1994 and she also developed the Margaret Newton Little Indian Program in 1968, where almost 800 students took part in the program.

William Allen "Pug" McGuire, 78, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at his residence.

He was a retired school teacher for Dyersburg High School, where he taught metals class for 25 years. Pug was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, member of the Disabled American Veterans, a member of the Tennessee Education Association, and a member of the National Education Association. He served as Sgt. First Class in the U.S. Army, where he was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne and the 11th Airborne. Pug was an avid horseman, dog trainer, and quail hunter.

She is the daughter of the late Eugene and the late Maudie (Gilliland) Brasfield. She was employed by Arnold's Drug Store. She is survived by her husband: Jerry Allen Lewis and one daughter: Kimberly Lents, wife of Terry Lents of Halls, TN. Carol is also survived by a step son, Jerry Allen Lewis, Jr. of Ripley, TN and a step daughter, Angela Lewis Burns of Halls, TN. She also leaves three great grandchildren, two boys, Lucas Burns, Jacob Burns and a precious great granddaughter, Laurali Tetleton Burns. Dr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents James S. Bailey, Sr. and Ruth M. Bailey ofWisconsin. Donald G. Martin, Sr., 85, of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.

As a teenager, he worked with a crew that traveled with the wheat harvest in the Great Plains. While in high school in Dover, Arkansas, he drove a school bus and was a star basketball player. After graduating from high school, he drove a lumber truck for a short time. Then he found his passion in heavy construction mostly with concrete work. Near Whitney, Texas, he worked to build bridges to cross a lake that was being built. He helped build Gavins Point Dam on the Missouri River near Yankton, SD, where he met his wife while shopping at JC Penney for a birthday gift for his sister.

Catherine Ann "Cathy" Belton, age 61, of Halls, Tennessee left her earthly home on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 to enter into her heavenly home. She passed away at her home peacefully in her sleep. She was born on September 23, 1954 to Jackie and Ouida Belton. Due to her physical and mental handicaps, over her lifespan, Cathy was enrolled in various organizations including: The Child Developmental Center, United Cerebral Palsy, MARC, Shelby Residential and Vocational Services (SRVS), all of Memphis, Tennessee. Most recently, she was actively enrolled at Helen R. Tucker Adult Developmental Center in Ripley, Tennessee. Cathy loved her family and friends and enjoyed being with people. She was a member of the Exceptional Department at Beverly Hills Baptist Church and Cherokee Baptist Church while living in Memphis, Tennessee. Currently, she was a member of the Specials Department at Gates Baptist Church. Cathy, a beloved daughter and sister, is preceded in death by her mother, Ouida Belton, and is survived by her father, Jackie Belton of Halls, TN; her sisters, Sondra Wright (Larry) of Memphis, TN, and Amy Winn (Mike) of Bryant, AR, her nieces and nephews, Will Wright (Megan), Emily Cavallo (Mike), Sarah Robinson (Jake), Amanda Ward (Daren), Allison Maxwell (Jake), Mark Winn and John Winn and a host of family and friends. Betty Tidwell Perkins, 83, of Dyersburg, passed away on Sunday at Methodist Hospice Residence in Memphis.

She is survived by her sister, Artie Jones; her husband of 65 years, Bill; her sons, Phillip and Mark Perkins; and her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Tony Green, all who will greatly miss her and her picnics. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ryan and Regan, of whom she was most proud and prayed for every day.

He was a former member of the Dyer County Fair Board, a Dixie Youth Baseball Coach for over 10 years, was a former member of the James Gang Bowling League and enjoyed golfing with his son. Charles was saved at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis. He was a loving father and grandfather, whom they called "Big Daddy". He always supported every activity they were involved in. His favorite place was Sandestin, FL, where he and his family visited every summer. Charles served in the Army National Guard.

Ms. Virginia was the former co-owner of Robbins American Service Station and worked in management for 33 years with Wal-Mart, retiring at the age of 77. She was active in the Brownies, Girl Scouts, Rainbows and the Dyersburg High School Band. Ms. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother and Christian.

Born and raised in Dyersburg, Tennessee to her parents, Lawrence (1951) and Sally (1948) Criswell; she was their last living child, preceded in death by one sister and nine brothers.

Marie married Norris J. Lavender (1993) and they had one daughter. She was a dedicated employee of Dyersburg Cotton Products for over 35 years until retiring in 1987. As a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church for 65 years, she loved her fellowship family and the endless support they provided. In retirement, Marie enjoyed social gatherings at the Senior Center, sewing and her weekly exercise classes.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Chancel Choir and Men's Quartet. Dr. Harrington was an Eagle Scout, as was his son and grandson; the first 3 generation Eagle Scout in Dyer County. He was a Board member at McIver's Grant Public Library and was former chairman of the foundation committee. He was an avid Tennessee football fan. She is survived by six daughters: Charlotte Vowel of Gates, TN, Mable (Johnny) Moore of Halls, TN, Shirley (Earl) Adams of Friendship, TN, Janet (Donnie) Adams of Gates, TN, Robin (Buster) Mathis of Halls, TN, Tammy (Rodney) McClellan of Halls, TN and two sons: Vandel (Janice) Spoon of Halls, TN, Mike (Ronna) Spoon of Halls, TN Bessie also leaves 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great -great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Lessie Wolfe, brothers: Marlin Wolfe, Sammy Wolfe and grandchildren: Rachael Spoon, Deano Adams. Visitation will be from 5 until 8pm. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N.Church St. Halls,TN. Services will be 11:00am.
