Amber was a graduate of Dyersburg State Community College, studying Criminal Justice which led to her love of true crime shows and stories. She enjoyed St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, especially against her husband's favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. She loved time spent with her canine companions Lil Girl and Bullet. Her son and friends remember her for her sense of humor where they were concerned.

Amber is survived by her husband, Kenneth Smith; her son, Mason Vestal; her brother, Eric Thurmond; and sister, Angel Thurmond.

Mr. Timothy "Tim" Lynn Holland, of Tigrett, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Tim was born October 31, 1966 in Dyersburg, TN to George and Ann Holland. He worked for many years as a paint and auto body repair specialist for Roberts & Delta Chevrolet. He loved working with his hands and always had a list of things he meant to do. He enjoyed time spent visiting with friends or out in the country riding backroads looking for wildlife.

Tim is survived by his wife, Judy French Holland, his sons Hunter Lynn Holland and Justin Richardson, his mother Ann Canada and husband, Butch, his brother Marty Holland and sister April Steel, and was greatly loved as "PawPaw Tim" by his grandchildren, Laiken Richardson, Levi Holland, Riley Holland & Hunter Drew Richardson. He is preceded in death by his father George Holland.

During her life, Teresa worked in various industries in our area and was a homemaker devoted to her family. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, making items for others in the community. Her faith was of utmost importance and she was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Dyersburg for many years.

Teresa is survived by her step-daughters Tracy Bryant & Tammy McInnis and a sister Doris Essary. She was greatly loved as "Nanny" by her grandchildren, Michael Rhodes and wife, Heather, Ashley Bryant & Ashley McInnis and great-grandchildren Corban, Jacob, Lilly and Alaina Rhodes and Julia Bryant. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Michael Pease, her daughter, Tina Valois, her brothers Larry & James Hollis and her grandsons John Michael Bryant and Johnathan Bryant.

Ms. Iline R. Trosper, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at her home. She was born in Dyer County on March 29, 1947 to the late Arthur & Emmie Reeves. During her life, Iline worked in the paint department for the A.O. Smith Co. in Ripley and as an accomplished seamstress for her community. She had a green thumb that was evident in the flower and vegetable gardens that she and her husband tended. In her free time, she enjoyed going to Gospel concerts and shows and traveling to the Ozark & Smoky Mountains with family. She is lovingly remembered for her dedication to and unconditional love for her family. Among her qualities, first, and foremost, was her Christian faith. She was a prayer warrior for those she knew and a pillar in her church for over 50 years. She was a member of Apostolic United Pentecostal Church in Halls, TN.

Iline is survived by her daughter & son-in-law Alicia & Billy R. Burkeen, her brother Rayburn Reeves and wife Veronica and sisters June Malone and husband Wayne, Peggy Reeves, Judy Bryson and Tracy Reeves. She was deeply loved as "Ninny" or "Nin" by her grandchildren Dustin and wife, Megan Marie Burkeen and Megan Rae Burkeen and her two precious great-grandsons Hunter & Chase Burkeen. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 54 years, Bobby Trosper, her parents and brothers Billy & Terry Reeves.

Vera Faye (Gamble) Davis passed away on April 9, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan. Faye was born on September 18, 1946, to parents Thelbert and Ruby Gamble in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

In the third grade at RoEllen Elementary School, she was conned out of her chocolate cake by a curly-headed boy named Woody Davis, and despite the trickery, they would one day marry and start a beautiful family. They married on June 28, 1964. Their families attended the intimate ceremony, and Faye walked down the aisle to the tune of her mother-in-law’s sniffling. They would become very close, despite her taking “Bubba” away.

He was known for his love of friends, fast cars, snow-skiing, cooking, roller-coasters, bridge, tennis, duck-hunting, and fishing. Fred was born in Chicago, IL on August 17,1937, the only child of Jeanette and Fritz Wittber. He attended The University of Illinois dental school before serving as a dentist in the U.S. Navy in Millington for 2 years. There he met Mary Ann Jernnigan to whom he was married for 60 years. They lived in Jacksonville, IL for 10 years before moving to Mary Ann's home town of Dyersburg. Fred lived in Dyersburg for most of his life where he practiced dentistry, and he and Mary Ann raised their four children. He was a member of the Rotary Club and Ducks Unlimited and was involved with The Boy Scouts of America.

He was the second child of the late Homer Thomas and Jane Armstrong Pressler. John Thomas had three passions, love for his family, enjoying his work, and is perhaps one of the world’s greatest fans of the legendary giants of rock ‘n’ roll, The Rolling Stones. Next among his passions would be his love for his community. He is a past member of the Dyersburg Jaycees, Dyersburg Kiwanis Club, Dyersburg Municipal-Regional Planning Commission and the property and parish committee of First United Methodist Church where he has been a life-time member. John Thomas proudly served his county in the Army National Guard for six years.

John Thomas graduated from Dyersburg High School in 1967. Following high school, he enrolled at Westminster College and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He transferred to Lambuth College in Jackson where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. He studied real estate at Memphis State University and obtained his real estate broker’s license upon his return to Dyersburg. He formed his own company in Dyersburg, buying and selling property, managing rental housing and appraisals for local institutions and individuals. He also operated a car wash and coin-operated laundry plus a mini-storage unit.

Born April 7, 1940, he is the son of the late Benny Houston and Laverne Harbor Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a Methodist and a member of the Rotary Club and the Carl Perkins Center. Mr. Maxwell was retired after 21 years as a contactor with Brasfield Construction.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with interment to follow in Sorrell’s Chapel Cemetery.

Gloria was born on October 10, 1964, to William L. Heath and the late Tommye Bryan Heath, who lovingly nurtured her into the remarkable woman she became.

Gloria was a kind and gentle soul, embodying compassion in all her interactions. She was deeply loved by her father, William, who survives her, as well as her sister, Jennifer Daugherty, and brother-in-law, Lonny Daugherty. Gloria was also cherished by her companion, Boyd Brown, who brought joy and warmth to her life.

Joyce Dawn Nelson, 57, of Halls, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. Born on October 10, 1967, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Joyce was a beloved daughter, mother, sister, and grandmother whose vibrant spirit and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her.

Joyce was the cherished daughter of the late W.H. and Betty (Boone) Smith. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Lance Stafford, whose memory always remained in her heart. Joyce's legacy continues through her three daughters: Samantha Stafford, Journee Nelson, and Marlee Nelson, all of Halls, TN, as well as her two sons, Dexter Stafford (Leigha) of Crestview, FL, and Phillip Nelson of Nashville, TN. Joyce also leaves behind two adoring grandchildren, Wyatt and Maverick Stafford, who were the light of her life.

James Henry ‘Hank’ Shipman, Jr. passed away on March 2, 2025, at his home in Orcutt, California. He was born on July 7, 1956, to the late James Henry Shipman and Peggy Davis Shipman in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Hank was committed to his work and enjoyed a successful agribusiness career in Tennessee and California. Hank attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He graduated from the University of Memphis with a business degree and started his career at Davis Sausage Company, his family-owned business. He went on to hold various positions at Knott’s Berry Farm Foods and Sunrise Growers. In semi-retirement, he continued to share his expertise by leading the maintenance division at SearchLight Properties in Central California, a business he co-owned with his wife, Michelle. Hank was a dog lover, hunter, and fisher. He enjoyed these hobbies with friends and family in Tennessee, Colorado, and his home state of California.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our co-worker and friend, Mike French, 74, of RoEllen, who died Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born November 30, 1950, he is the son of the late Melvin K. and Frances Adkins French.

Mike, first and foremost, was a devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is a 1968 graduate of Newbern High School and has been a faithful member of Volunteer Baptist Church. Before retirement, he worked in transportation and trucking for 40 years at Dyersburg Express for 12 years, Ermco for 20 years and Tennessee Freight Specialist for 8 years. After retirement, he worked at Finley Elementary School and then joined the staff at Curry Funeral Home as Funeral Service Associate. Mike was such a devoted, kindhearted person and he was a true comfort to the families that Curry’s served. He was always more than willing to do any job that was asked of him from cleaning, making removals at 2:00 AM to working funeral services. In his spare time, he treasured his time spent with his family at their cabin at Kentucky Lake. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Marvin Ray "RayRay" Hilliard, of Dyersburg, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his home. Marvin was born January 16, 1954 to the late Charles & Clarice Hilliard. He worked in the Waste-Water Department for the City of Dyersburg and enjoyed free time spent outdoors. His passions were playing golf and fishing.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Dena Hilliard, his sons Wes Hilliard and wife, Miranda and Jarrett Hilliard, his step-daughter, Hollie McAfee, his brother Bob Hilliard and wife, Sherry, his brother-in-law John Davis, his sisters Carolyn Clark and Sandra Wilson and husband, Jimmy. He was loved greatly as "Poppy" by his grandchildren; Emma, Parker & Landon Hilliard and Logan & Jacob McAfee.

Dennis James Hubbard, 78, of Friendship, TN walked into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

Born August 14, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to the late Claude Hubbard and Annette Fromm. After graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1964, Dennis made his way to Union University in Jackson, TN, where he met his future wife, Lamar Ann White, and was a member of the Lambda Zeta Chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha. After Dennis and Ann married in 1967, he began his service in the United States Air Force, which took them to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, TX; Upper Heyford Air Force Base in Oxfordshire, England; and Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC. In 1970, Dennis and Ann settled in Ann's hometown of Friendship to raise a family, and Dennis returned to Union and completed his degree in Chemistry in 1973. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1974.

She was born on March 1, 1943, in Savannah, TN, to the late Brown Beckham and the late Kathleen Cromwell Beckham. Mary worked for over 25 years in the Latch Needle Department at Dyersburg Fabrics. After leaving in 1999, she enjoyed being home with her family and loved summertime. She enjoyed being outside, growing her flowers and garden. She loved sitting on the porch watching all of the birds and feeding them all faithfully. Mary also loved going to watch her grandson's baseball games. She was a wonderful cook. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved dog sitting with her great-grand dogs, Archie and Scout. Mary will be remembered for her warmth and kindness by all who knew her.

Jimmy worked for Colonial Rubber and was a draftsman in building and American craftsman in art. His free time was spent on his love of hunting and also building furniture and walking canes. Jimmy helped design and build structures for his sons entertainment business. Also he loved doing many adventures with his grandsons. He fully enjoyed taking his children camping in their youth. And was faithful in attending his church Oakgrove Church of Christ.

She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and loved time spent in Bible study, reading commentaries, and journaling her thoughts on scripture.

Nell is survived by her sons James Michael Bennett, Larry Bennett and Jessie Bennett, her daughters Sue Lee and Zetta Bargery and was greatly loved as "Mama Nell" by her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Porter Bennett and her five brothers and sisters.
