Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Cottonwood Baptist Church with Reverend Paul Adams officiating. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery. Raised by his maternal aunt, Lula Welborn and his grandfather, Harris Taylor, Charles worked for many years at the downtown Western Auto Store. After retirement, he worked at his tire and battery store on Finley Street as well as delivering for Super D until age 85. He has always done bicycle repair and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday morning secretary for almost 50 years, not missing one Sunday for most of those years.

Mr. Hallum was a Korean War Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1949-1955. He was an avid baseball fan (Cardinals) and an avid outdoorsman (fishing and hunting). Glenn B. Holt, 102, of Mayfield, KY formerly of Finley, died Monday, June 30, 2014 at Green Acres Health Care in Mayfield, KY. Glenn was born in Henry County, Tennessee on July 5, 1911 to Clyde and Bessie Burton. She was valedictorian of her Nauvoo High School graduating class, an active member of Richwood's Methodist Church (Finley United Methodist Church) and also Finley Home Demonstration Club where she won many blue ribbons at the Dyer County Fair in cooking and canning divisions. She is preceded in death by her husband Buford Henry Holt (2/9/1980). Glenn is the mother of three sons: Harold Holt and wife Bonnie of Dyersburg, TN, Ralph Holt and wife Patty of Mayfield, KY, Richard B. Holt and wife Barbara ( both deceased), grandmother of eight; great grandmother of twelve: great-great grandmother of eight; and sister to Dudley Burton (deceased), Lila Reasons (deceased) Mary Frances Sorrell of Nashville, Paula Moore of Martin, TN and Bob Burton of Signal Mountain, TN. Funeral services for Mrs. Holt will be at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 3, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Ralph Gunter and Reverend Monte Hodges with interment to follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday, July 3rd beginning at 12 Noon until service time at the funeral home. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mary Lucille (Sally) Kirby of Halls, Tennessee passed away June 25, 2014 at age 87 one day before her 88th birthday. She was born in Newbern, Tennessee on June 26, 1926 to Miller and Berta Johns. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband R. H. Kirby, Jr. and her sister Ruth Wyrick. Survivors include nephew Wayne (Sarah) Wyrick, Paul (Cary) Wyrick, Cass and Kate Wyrick, and lifelong friend J. N. Wyrick. Mrs. KIrby was a homemaker and worked for Tupperware of Halls for a number of years. She attended First Baptist Church of Halls. Since September of 2011, she has been cared for by the kind and caring Staff at Highlands of Dyersburg and in her last days her care was administered by the staff at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center and Caris of Tennessee Hospice. Halls Funeral Home has charge. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 28th from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. with graveside services at 1 P.M. at Halls Cemetery.
