Born September 3, 1947 to Johnnie and Bethal Moody Wheeler, she was retired from Walmart after 29 years of employment. She retired as the Department Manager of the Garden Section and attended Junction Church of God. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 2, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Kenny Chessor. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Wheeler, Bubba Wheeler, Homer Reed, Jeff Reed, Tommy Reed and J.W. Warmath. Born November 20, 1926 to Dolphus and Edna Holt Reasons, he was lifelong farmer with his older brothers. He joined Richwood Methodist Church as a youth and later attended Finley United Methodist Church where he was a devoted member and served on many committees. He was an avid fisherman and greatly enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in Japan. Funeral services for Mr. Reasons will be at 11:00 am Thursday, May 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Ralph Gunter. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dale Reasons, Bob Brock, Louis Rosenberg, Travis Irvin, Keith Perry, Gene Bolte and Mike Bohannon. He was a farmer and a member of McCullough's Chapel Baptist Church. Tommy was a past President and member of the Executive Board of the Dyer County Fair Association. He was an avid football and baseball player and fan. He enjoyed fishing and all types of hunting, especially coon hunting. He was an active member of FFA. Tommy had a lifelong passion for farming and was truly blessed to share this joy with his two grandsons.

On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, Heaven gained an amazing person and another angel after the prolonged illness of Patsy Gail Wizner, 63. She moved from her earthly home in Niles, MI to her heavenly one. She was born on Friday, September 22, 1950 in Finley, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband David Wizner; her father, George Seratt; and one brother, Daniel Seratt. Patsy was a welder by trade, but a soul healer at heart. Her presence and caring demeanor enriched the lives of all she came in contact with. A more perfect daughter, sister, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend couldn't be found. Her love, kindness, generosity, and beauty will be greatly missed by all the lives she touched. Patsy's life was spent in many areas, but her heart never left her home town of Dyersburg, She enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion, Post 51 (Buchanan, MI) for the Ladies Auxiliary, the Sons of the Legion, and Legion Riders. She also had a passion for gardening and bird watching. Patsy is survived by her mother, Martha Crunk of Buchanan, MI; her daughter, Stacey Cook; two sons, Todd Boeve of Houston, TX and Troy Vaughn of Newbern, TN; two brothers, James Seratt of Newbern, TN and George Seratt of Florida; three sisters, Julie Baker, Tina Hendrix and DeShawn Leger all of Dyersburg, TN; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be at Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg, TN on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, and funeral services will be at 1:00pm Friday, April 25th in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Brother Steve Mills. Nancy Ganier, 98, of Jackson formerly of Dyersburg, died Saturday, April 12, 2014 at her residence. She was born on January 31, 1916 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Lillian and James Haygood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Ganier, Sr., her son, Dr. Mitchell Ganier, her sister, Jean Kennedy and her brother James Haygood. While living in Memphis she attended Southwestern at Memphis where her father coached the football team. After her marriage, she lived in Dyersburg for almost seventy years. In Dyersburg, Nancy was an active member of her church's community (First United Methodist Church). She was on the library board, volunteered at the hospital and held many offices at the church. A skilled bridge player, she played in Dyersburg as well as her later home in Jackson, TN. She was a joy to all who knew her. Her bright spirit and positive outlook endeared her to everyone she met. She was active until a few weeks before her death playing games with her great-grandchildren. Her focus was always outward on others. She bore the loss of her husband and son with great courage and dignity. Her life was an example of living with grace through sorrow and joy. She leaves two sons, Dr. Roger Ganier, Jr. and wife Gail of Covington and Jim Ganier and wife Laura of Hickory Withe, TN. Her six grandchildren are Alex Ganier and wife Kellye, Allison Ganier Havercamp and husband John, Jim Ganier and fiance Robin, Matt Ganier and wife Sarah, Shane Ganier and wife Jen and Patrick Ganier and wife Marcie. Additionally she leaves nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the Sanctuary at the First United Methodist Church conducted by Dr. Susan Sharpe. Jerry Jackson, 74, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. After four months of battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia, he went home to be with the Lord.

Jerry was born on August 9, 1939 in Nashville, TN, to Pauline Jackson Traughber and the late Robert Jackson. Jerry was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Dyersburg who lived his life with honesty and integrity. As a young man, he served as the Tennessee State Young Republican Chairman, a Presidential Electorate in 1972, and State Chairman for the campaigns of Howard Baker in 1966 and Richard Nixon in 1972. He was a three term alderman in Dyersburg and a member of the Jaycee's and Kiwanis. He became Vice President of Colonial Rubber Works and started three other companies in the rubber industry. He was chairman and a life member of Southern Rubber Group in which he was named Man of the Year in 1972. He was a University of Tennessee Trustee for twelve years. He also served on the Dyer County Election Commission and was the West Tennessee Vice Chairman of TAECO (the Tennessee Election Commission).

Hollis Page Knox went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2014 at the age of 89. He was born in Halls, TN on December 11, 1924. He was a member of the Williams Chapel Baptist Church in Halls, TN as well as his parents and grandparents. He graduated from Halls High School in 1943 and entered the US Navy during World War II in October 1943 and was discharged in 1946. He served as a petty officer and ship fitter on the oil tanker USS Tallulah in the Central Pacific, touring the Philippines, Marshall, and Kwajalein Islands. He owned and operated The Shanty Caf next to The Dyersburg Gin Company from 1963-1983 where he served many a hot plate lunch and jumbo size sweet tea with most of the vegetables coming from his own garden. Mr. Knox also retired from Tupperware in 1992. He was an antique tractor enthusiast, rebuilding and repairing various models, especially green ones. He was an avid blue bird watcher and blue bird house builder. He was a fantastic gardener with his petunias living all year round on a mild winter. He went dancing with friends weekly for years. Pastor Jimmy Clay will be officiating the ceremony. Pallbearers are: Matthew Knox, David Barsotti, John Barsotti, Michael Barsotti, Gary Ray and Frankie Blakely. Services will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 at 1pm. at the Halls Funeral Home, 109 N Church St. Halls, TN. He was retired from the maintenance department at Republic Builders and was a member of Lenox Fire Department for many years.

Robert Clint King, Jr., 88, of Dyersburg, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

Robert joined the Navy, (during WWII) at the age of 16 years old. While in the Navy, he was stationed on a submarine tender, serving in the South Pacific. He worked at Colonial Rubber Works for over 30 years. While at Colonial, he invented many devices for the manufacture of different rubber items, including the "King Bee". He also farmed for many years. He was the past commander of the local VFW Post 1972. Robert enjoyed fishing, trading stocks and traveling, which sometimes the travel could be a simple, pleasant drive down to the bottoms and the Mississippi River. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Frances Nevita Ann Turner Pilgrim, 74, of Dyersburg, TN, went to be with her Heavenly Father Friday, March 21, 2014 at Jackson Madison County Hospital.She lived her life for the Lord, her family, and friends. She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church. She was devoted to her church, family, and community. She especially enjoyed singing gospel music. She showed her Christian devotion by visiting and ministering to all in need. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home officiated by Brother Ronnie Turner, Brother Paul Hogue and Brother Charles Runions. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The Pilgrim family received visitors Saturday evening, March 22, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Survivors include two daughters Gail Pratt (Randy) of Halls, TN and Sue Williams (David) of Olive Branch, MS; one son, Danny Pilgrim of Dyersburg, TN; four sisters: Trinka Sanford and Alice Chandler of Tiptonville, TN, Theresa Butler of Miami, FL, and Jan Platt of Ridgely, TN; two brothers: Jeffery Turner of Ridgely, TN and Joe Turner of Dyersburg, TN; seven grandchildren: Starr Grappone, Brock Williams, Christopher Pilgrim, Brooke Pilgrim, Blake Pilgrim, and Jeremy Lemons. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Harold Pilgrim; her parents Francis Marion and Lucille RaeTurner, her grandson Brandon Nicolas Cross; five brothers: Billy Turner, Charles Turner, Cloyce Turner, Aubrey Turner, and Jamie Turner; two sisters: Mildred Tidwell, Nancy Runions and her mother-in-law: Margie Pilgrim Reagor. Pallbearers will be Chris Pilgrim, Blake Pilgrim, Brock Williams, Jimmy Lee Pleasant, Charles Stewart and Tony Leake. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Turner, Mark Turner, Jeff Rivers, William Rivers, Stacey Rivers, and Chris Runions. Annie Pearl McAlister, age 81, of Halls died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at NHC nursing home in Somerville TN , . Annie was born June 13, 1932 in Brownsville, TN. She is the daughter of the late Charlie Joe and the late Willie Meg (Adams) Wright. She married the late William Robert McAlister. She was a retired seamstress.
