She is survived by her husband: Sidney Marshall Hendren and two daughters: Donna Reid of Selmer, TN, Amy Howard of Dyersburg, TN; Sister of one sister: Elizabeth Mathis of Halls, TN and one brother: Tim Broyles of Halls, TN; She also leaves three grandchildren Hailey, Jacob and Blake Reid. Mrs. Jean Carolyn Hurt Hansford

Mrs. Jean Carolyn Hurt Hansford, age 89, of Halls died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at home in Halls. Jean was born February 26, 1925 in Halls, TN. She is the daughter of the late Fred Raymond and the late Jottye (McDearman) Hurt Sr. Mrs. Hansford was a devoted wife and mother of six children. She was a music teacher for many years, as well as a member of the McDowell Music Club of Dyersburg. She also enjoyed playing bridge at clubs in both Halls and Dyersburg. Mrs.Hansford faithfully served her church family for over 20 years as organist at Halls First Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters: Judy H. Newby of Halls, TN, Lou Anne Hansford of San Jose, CA, Hurt (Matt) Hamilton of Dyersburg, TN and two sons: Jimmy (Kay) Hansford of Halls, TN; Guy (Kathy) Hansford of Dyersburg, TN,; She also has five grandchildren: grandson, Ashley Hansford; grandson, Addison (Lesley) Hansford; grandson, Connor Hansford; granddaughter, Ali Hansford; grandson, Cole Hamilton and a great-grandson, Keller James Hansford. Myrtle May Poe, age 84, of Ripley died Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Lauderdale Community Hospital of Ripley, TN. Myrtle was born January 21, 1930 in Ripley, TN. She is the daughter of the late Norman and the late Alma (Lyell) Shands. She married Sam Gattis Poe. She is survived by one daughter: Gail McQuiston of Laceys Spring, AL and one son: Stanley Poe of Ripley, TN; Sister of two sisters: Ira Binkley of MO, Yvone Dowell of FL and four brothers: Louis Shands of Millington, TN, James Shands of IL, Roy Shands of MS, Riley Shands of WV; Predeceased by her Husband, Sam Gattis Poe, Father, Norman Shands, Mother, Alma Lyell, Son, Phillip Poe, Brother, Dewey Shands, Brother, David Shands, Brother, Wallace Shands, sister, Ruth Cone. Myrtle also leaves 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 8 at Grace Cemetery, Ripley, TN .
