Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she took great joy in Christmas shopping and watching classic TV shows like Perry Mason and Matt Lock.

He spent his career, of more than 30 years, in sales and management with Williams Furniture. He is lovingly remembered for his devotion to family and friends as well as his special sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing trips, gardening and was an avid Tennessee Volunteer football and basketball fan.

Chuck is survived by his beloved family and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Everett Dodd Jarred.

She is remembered as always being at the center of any activity, whether it was a fishing trip to Kentucky Lake, a Tennessee Vols game with friends or recently bowling in the Ladies League with her Moose Misfits teammates. She was a lover of music of all genres, from Loretta Lynn to Kid Rock. She was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and had a heart for helping others.

Pam is survived by her long-time companion, Lynn Johnson, her daughter, Peyton Fortner & husband, Dustin, of Murfreesboro, TN, her brothers, Dennis Presley & wife, Sue, Junior Curtis & wife, Sandy, her sister, Debra Roberts and was greatly loved as "Meema" by her four grandchildren, Laynee, Jameson, Naomi and Wyatt. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Timothy Tucker and James Michael Curtis.

It is with both great sadness and great joy that we announce the death of Ida May Guthrie, a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother, sister, friend, encourager, and support for numerous friends and family members. She died peacefully on November 25, 2024. Ida was ninety-two years old.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, she, her parents, Al and Ethel Ryland, and her siblings, Tommie and Porter, eventually settled in Dyersburg, Tennessee in the mid-1940s. Ida graduated from Dyersburg High School in 1949 and then traveled by train to Virginia to attend the Mary Baldwin all-girls school in 1949-1950. From 1950 to 1953 she attended the University of Arkansas, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She graduated with a BA in English, a good match for her love of literature and reading, a love that she maintained until the final weeks of her life on earth.

Vernon was awarded the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award which was authorized by the Department of the Air Force General, Department of the Air Force Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service Award, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and The Air Force Commendation Medal ,which is a bronze hexagon-shaped award given to members of the United States armed forces who have distinguished themselves through meritorious service and achievement. Vernon later worked in warehousing.

Dr. Rovena Lee Hillsman, 94, died peacefully October 23, 2024, at Bradley Medical Center, Cleveland, Tennessee. She was born 0ctober 15, 1930, in Hathaway, Tennessee. Her family later moved to Ridgely, Tennessee, where she graduated from Ridgely High School in 1948 and began her teaching career.

Dr. Hillsman completed a bachelors degree at Memphis State College, earned a masters degree from UT Knoxville, and then earned her Ph.D. from Arizona State University in Tempe. She taught at Ridgely High School, Sikeston High School (Missouri), Friendsville Academy (Tennessee), Pensacola Junior College (Florida), and retired as a Professor Emeritus from Sacramento State University, Sacramento, California, in 1995.

Ms. Gail Ann Bivens, formerly of Calvert City, Ky, passed away at her residence on Saturday, October 19, 2024. She was born in Caribou, Maine to the late Rex & Marge Wyman. Gail is fondly remembered for her love of her grandchildren & great-grandchildren, always keeping up with and attending their activities, whenever possible. She worked in local government operations for the city of Calvert City, Ky. She was an avid reader, quilter and traveller. She enjoyed her time in the Pilates classes at Ultimate Fitness and also participating in water-aerobics classes. Her canine companions always brought her joy.

Gail is survived by her sons, Chris Bivens & wife, Melanie, of Dyersburg and Steven Bivens & wife, Michelle, of New Bern, NC, her brother, Scott Wyman and sister, Melissa Thompson. She was greatly loved as "Granny" by her sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She had a passion for bargain shopping and cherished spending time with her family. A wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, she took great joy in caring for her family, especially her husband.

Mack Bryant Stanley went to be with his Lord on October 10, 2024. Mack was born June 22, 1944, in Halls, TN to Joseph Barbour Stanley and Mattie Elizabeth Steelman Stanley.

Mack graduated from Halls High School in 1962. On August 27, 1962, Mack married Patricia Ann Grady Stanley. Mack earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Dyersburg State Community College, graduating with highest honors. In 2013, Mack was named Outstanding Alumnus at DSCC. Mack continued pursuing knowledge in his career as a federal employee with the United States Postal Service. Mack took all courses offered through the Post Office and attended weekend seminars. During his 38 years of service, Mack held many different positions such as a City Letter Carrier, Supervisor, Officer-in-Charge and Postmaster in different offices in West Tennessee. Mack enjoyed 27 years as a city letter carrier in his hometown of Halls, TN. Mack retired as Postmaster at Dyersburg Post Office in 2001. Mack had a strong work ethic.
