He was a graduate of Dyersburg High School, then joined the United States Air Force. He earned the rank of Master Sergeant, proudly serving over a 21 year career as a Food Service Supervisor. He served in locations including Missouri, Puerto Rico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Germany and New Mexico. After returning in retirement, he worked for 16 years at Colonial Rubber Works. He is lovingly remembered by his friends and co-workers as "Bud" or "Sarge". In his post-service years, he enjoyed time with friends at the Dyersburg Moose Lodge and local bowling leagues. He was an accomplished woodworker, loved old cars and western movies. He spent time in his front yard swing and loved to cook for family, especially Saturday morning breakfasts.
