Photo of Wanda "Joyce" Graves Barnes

Wanda "Joyce" Graves Barnes

August 29, 1942 – June 01, 2024

Life is like a Mist or a vapor, here for a short time and then gone, even if you live to be a hundred, that is still a short time. The mist of Joyce Graves Barnes entered by body and spirit into this world on August 29, 1942. She was blessed with an older sister, Birdie Jeanette "Jan" Packard (still living). Joyce drifted around with family and friends like most kids growing up, and then she met the love of her life, Melvin Barnes. By the grace of God, this marriage lasted 66 years, until her death. They were blessed with three wonderful sons, Joel Keith, Eric Scott (Shari) and Jason Bradley "Brad" (Kristin). These sons gave them six grandchildren, Eric's three: Logan Scott, Noah Joseph and Kendall Nicole: Brad's three: Harrison Bradley, Brenna Leigh and Jason Kane.

Joyce was involved in many things during her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended church all her life. She worked various jobs and was at one time the Tax Assessor for Lake County, but I think of all the wonderful memories that different people have of her, and there are so many, the ones that stands out the most is her kindness and caring for other people. At the end, on June 1, 2024, she gave her all, her body to science and her spirit back to God. To forget is vain endeavor, love remembrances last forever.
